Passage: 2 Timothy 2
(H) Highlight
- 2Ti 2:8-9
- Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, the offspring of David, as preached in my gospel,
- for which I am suffering, bound with chains as a criminal. But the word of God is not bound! - 2Ti 2:8-9
(E) Explain
- Remember Christ and the gospel and all that Paul has taught. There will be suffering, there will be imprisonment, but God's word will not be bound. It will always go forth!
(A) Apply
- Remember Christ and the gospel truth and narrative.
- I must be ready to stand for Jesus knowing this may bring suffering or even prison. There will be those, now here, or more coming who will not stand for nor understand Biblical truth. This will drive persecution of followers of The Way.
- I must take hope in the promise that God's Word is not bound and will always prevail.
- Promises:
- Isaiah 40:8
“The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.” - Psalm 119:89
“Forever, O LORD, your word is firmly fixed in the heavens.” - Psalm 119:160
“The sum of your word is truth, and every one of your righteous rules endures forever.”
- Isaiah 40:8
- Promises:
(R) Respond
- Thank you, Lord for your everlasting Word revealed to us. Protect us, Father, as we stand for truth, proclaim gospel and grace come what may. Amen.
