Well, why Not?

Well, why Not?

by Jim Brookins

Proverbs 13:21
"Trouble pursues the sinner, but the righteous are rewarded with good things."

This leaves me wondering why we don't consider sin a problem.
Most Christians will say. "I'm a sinner saved by grace." This sounds more like, "So I still sin.'
Yes, being saved is a home in heaven. But is that all? You say what do you mean by saying; "Is that all"? Heaven is where saved people go.
I agree because Christ died. Why did he die? To pay the penalty for our sins. That is the good news. Our penalty is death and Jesus died as our payment for the penalty.
Does that mean we still sin simply because grace saved us and that we can continue in sin? No!
What is repentance? It is the act or action of turning AWAY from.
Can you repent from doing GOOD? You say, "That's a silly question why wouldn't someone want to do good?"
James 4:17 Remember, it is a sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it. But if you don't do good you are repenting from good, turning from it. So what is the opposite of good? That's easy, bad.
But don't we think that to repent is only to repent sin? If you see a need and can provide but you don't is that sinning? Do good intentions count? How many times in life have you heard someone say, "It's the thought that counts."
That reasoning is debunked haven't you heard this saying before? "How can you see someone cold and naked and without food, and you say to him be warmed and filled and you walk away giving him nothing."

Do your words clothe him and warm his naked body? Do your words fill his empty stomach?
Proverbs 14:21 "It is a sin to despise one's neighbors, but blessed is the one who is kind to the needy."

Proverbs 14:14
"The faithless will be fully repaid for their ways, and the good rewarded for theirs."
