Allah says in the Quran, translating into English...

[24:35]

Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth.

The example of His light is like a niche within which there is a lamp,

the lamp is encased in a glass,

the glass is like a radiant planet,

which is lit from a blessed olive tree that is neither of the east nor of the west, its oil nearly gives off light even if not touched by fire.

Light upon light,

Allah guides to His light whom He pleases.

And Allah sets forth examples for the people,

and Allah is aware of all things.

[24:36]

In houses that Allah has permitted to be built and His name mentioned in them.

He is glorified therein in the mornings and the evenings.

[24:37]

By Rijaal not distracted by trade or sale from the remembrance of Allah and establishing the Salah, and contributing towards Zakat.

They fear a Day when the hearts and sight will be overturned.

O you who believe,

you shall remember Allah frequently.

And

glorify Him morning and evening.

[33:43]

He is the One who Yu'Salli's you,

along with His angels,

to bring you out of darkness and into the light.

And He is ever Merciful towards the believers.
