To join with the will of God/Life is to move with total acceptance of what arises, regardless of personal agendas/preferences.

Each moment is the result of a single collective unfolding which includes everything and everyone that ever is, was and will be. The individual will is confined to its apparent capacity to propel action, though this is an illusion since each individual is inseparably shaped and moved by those/that which surround it. The egoic perspective only generates stories in relation to the overall unfolding of existence, always from the conditioned perspective of the individual ego.

These stories are inevitable to a degree and can be seen/experienced as part of the overall unfolding rather than as representing truth. Truth is incomprehensible and ungraspable in terms of language/thought/definition so these stories are never accurate representations of reality. What a story conveys can only ever be an impression based on appearances. A process and product of exchange and interaction from a certain extremely limited perspective.

There is no essential truth to these stories/words/images, so they can be given minimal attention. The majority of attention is best directed towards acceptance. This brings the individual into harmony with the whole, and into a state of rest therein since the energy wasted in pointlessly contentious thoughts and grievances is greatly reduced.
