Ricoh MP C5503 printer Slow Printing Fix

For a long time we had been having slow printing issues with printing PDF documents on our Ricoh MP 5503 printer. We had a Ricoh service person come to our office to service the machine and I asked him about the slow printing issue. Right away he said I know what is wrong and how to fix it. He told me to open my Windows printer driver for the Ricoh 5503, and on the tab at the top labeled "Ports", click on "Add Port", and create a new port using port type "Standard TCP/IP Port", and name the port using the IP address where your Ricoh 5503 printer is located on your LAN (local network). Use Port Number 9100 and make the SNMP Status public with SNMP Device index of 1. Protcol is Raw. I did create that port as he suggested and started printing PDFs with it and they printed out instantaneously. Whereas before I was just printing to the network printer driver address and PDFs were taking several minutes per page. So I am passing along that tip to others who may be having slow printing of PDFs on their local networks using the Ricoh 5503 printer/scanner/copier. I imagine this will work with other Ricoh MP model numbers as well. For us it was a really valuable change in settings; very easy to do and a world of difference performance-wise.
