A Good Way of Burning a candle

Learning how to burn a beeswax candle so I can actually enjoy it.

First thing—trim the wick to about ¼ inch before you light it.

Let the candle burn for a couple of hours the first time you light it; that creates a “memory ring” and helps stop tunneling.

Tunneling is when the heat of flame doesn’t reach the edge of the candle. Instead, you get a hot wax pool in the middle, the wick burns down quickly, and the wax keeps melting only in the center.

I love using search engines and AI tools to teach myself old‑school ink‑writing tricks and ways to soak up that cozy, warm glow.

I’m definitely not an expert—I just picked up all this terminology a few minutes ago!

Also, I can use a spoon that was warmed with hot water to take away the excess wax if the candle starts to tunnel.
