The Open Hand , Requires Nothing.

Take a moment. Make a fist. Feel the immediate, subtle surge of energy required to clench your hand. How much tension is focused in that grip?

Now, slowly, open the hand. What difference do you instantly feel? That immediate release, that is freedom.

The mechanical function of a fist is to hold, to grab, to grip. Yet, how long can you sustain that tension? Hold it longer, and you’ll feel the strain creep up your forearm, tightening the muscles of your entire upper body. It takes tremendous, persistent energy simply to stay closed.

This is more than a physical act. Consider the cost of this grip on your thoughts, emotions, and connection with others. The metaphor runs deep: Think of the incredible energy we expend when we tightly grip onto things that no longer serve us,old arguments, outdated beliefs, expectations that don’t fit reality.

When someone approaches us with a closed fist, we observe a threat, both internally and externally, So what are we doing to ourselves when we grip our fist so tightly? Our defences activate. But when someone walks toward us with an open hand, what does that bring?

The open hand is vulnerable. It is the necessary foundation for genuine connection. It represents letting go, bringing with it a temporary fear of uncertainty , but an definitive openness of what is to come.

Open the hand.

Feel the tension leave your body and mind. Trust that by walking through the world with an open palm, the right connections, opportunities, and truths can flow effortlessly to you.

Take the time to examine how much energy is being wasted on living with a tight grip of control on a reality that is powerful and beautiful in its own natural flow. We owe it nothing.
