The star of Jesus

In Matthew 2:2-9 we see the wisemen searching for the king of the Jews because they saw his star. This makes sense given that the wisemen knew that stars are associated with individual divine beings and that those beings had allotted regions. Verse 9 describes the star moving and coming to stand over the exact place where Jesus was. Given that the star lead them to the land of the Jews, it was obvious that the ruler was the new ruler of the Jews and because the star was completely new this ruler was obviously recently born.
