Hello.
I'm gonna talk about my plants life today, because I think we can learn something from it.
There is this plant in my room. I've had it for many years, I think it was one of the first plants I got. Like most plants it started out very small and it lived in a very nice little white porcelain pot on my windowsill for a while till it got too big for the pot. My taste in decorating had changed quite a bit in that time and a nice little white pot was too pretty for my room. So i replanted it in an old metal can, I did so with all the plants i had at the time. The plant lived in that can on the windowsill for a while basking in all the sunrise it got every morning. It grew and it grew fast , giving out many bigger and bigger leaves and started fortifying itself with bark. After a while i had to replace the can for an even bigger one, so it could flourish even more. Around the same time as the can upgrade it lost some of the very first, smaller, lower leaves, in order to give more energy upwards.
After a long while it had grown so tall it could no longer fit in my windowsill, so i had to move it onto a big wooden box I have on my floor. You could really tell it wasn't directly in the sunrise every morning anymore. It stopped growing quite as fast and somewhat followed the natural seasons a bit better. Bigger leaves were still appearing, just slower, suppose a bit more of a natural speed. Nothing major happened for a long while, till i decided that metal cans weren't that great anymore (they rust lol) so i bought a nice big brow glass pot for it. I had figured it was about time to give it a bigger upgrade as well. The plant started a steady growth pace again, until it just kind of stopped. I couldn't figure out what was wrong with it and after giving it new dirt i decided to just leave it be and do it's thing. Not much happened for a bit, might have overwatered it it some point, but that fixed itself up. Some time after that it started to drop a lot of leaves, i couldn't do anything about it. I was worried about it, i cared a lot for it, but I accepted that if it wanted to die then I would let it. I just kept up the regular watering like always and hoped it would come back around. It did come around after a bit, but the leaves where small and wrinkled nowhere near what it once grew. It was trying, I could practically feel it. It grew out 4 sad wrinkled leaves and then it started dropping more of the bigger lower ones. I thought "this is really it isn't it?". Like before, I let it happen.
But then it just stopped doing anything, no more loosing leaves, no more spewing out wrinkled small ones. It had just stopped. For months it did nothing at all. I kept watering like always, just giving it something to survive on. I really didn't want to lose this plant, it had been in my care for so long and had grown attached to it.
Then out of the blue one day, I noticed a tiny little spike coming out of it a bit lower on it's thin trunk. A new sprout! Tiny, but there non the less. 3 more appeared after a bit. My dying old plant was making new life, after months of being dormant. I was shocked, happy, but shocked. Later it cut off connection to the very top two wrinkled leaves, almost as a way of getting rid of the old skeletons in the closet, get a fresh new start.
That's where the plant is at present time. Many new little leaves sprouting out all around the trunk where great leaves used to stay.
Was i really talking about a plant this whole time, or was it perhaps something else? Only you can know.
- Sincerely from the deepest pits of the Void :)
