Reciprocity

Is a word I think we don't use often enough. To be honest, until I intentionally started using it, the word never appeared on my radar. I knew what it meant in a technical manner, but I didn't use it.

Reciprocity is a concept seemingly so basic in our nature, yet something we seem to have lost, almost completely.

Here's the definition from Merriam-Webster:

Definition of reciprocity
1: the quality or state of being reciprocal : mutual dependence, action, or influence
2: a mutual exchange of privileges

This is as simple as the idea of sharing the good stuff. Of trusting people, sharing our best selves, while encouraging others to do the same. It's the feeling of being good, together. Strong, together. Thoughtful, together. Spreading the love further, together.

Our world is more plentiful than it has ever been before; so many of us have more than we need. Yet, it seems like whenever a glimpse of positivity shows up in somebody, they want to only keep it for themselves. Protect it, shield it from the presumptive evilness out there.

All I'm ask you to do today is share. Share the word, share the love.

Let's make the world plentiful not only in terms of GDP, but also real wellbeing, real love.
