Here are some tools that aid me in learning French. Hopefully, some of these could help you too.
Translator
DeepL - freemium: available on web, iOS, Windows and macOS
- Miles better than Google Translate since the translation is more natural-sounding
Mate Translator - freemium: as a browser extension, also available on web, iOS and macOS
- Only use this on my phone for languages that are not available on DeepL
Grammar/spelling checker
LanguageTools - freemium: available on web, iOS, macOS, Windows, as a browser extension, email add-ons, and office plug-ins
- Kinda like Grammarly but supports other languages as well, including French
Reverso - freemium: available on web, iOS, Android, Windows, and as a browser extension
- I use the synonym function the most btw
- The grammar/spelling checker once in a while
Dictionary
WordReference - free: available on iOS, Android, and as a browser extension
- As my go-to bilingual dictionary
Larousse - available on web (free), iOS (paid), and Android (paid)
- Specifically for French definition and synonym (in-depth), and the conjugation table
Others
Anki - available on web (free), iOS (paid), Android (free), Windows (free), macOS (free) and Linux (free)
- Flashcard app; highly suggest creating your own deck
Language Reactor - freemium; available as an extension on Chromium-based browsers only
- Able to display two subtitles at once on both Netflix and YouTube
GlotDojo - freemium: iOS, Android, and as a browser extension (Chromium-based browsers only)
- Similar to Language Reactor but available as an application
Social
- Meetup
- iTalki
- Tandem
- Discord (duh)
- Duolingo Events
At least these are the ones that I can think of atm.
