Coconut Fixing the World

Assalamualaikum. Recently, I listened to a podcast episode—I think it was by the BBC—called "Changed the World." I can't really remember the exact title, but it discusses coconuts and how local people use them in their daily lives. For example, in Sierra Leone, people use coconuts as a biomass source. In the Philippines, they use it as an alternative to an icebox, which I find quite impressive. Specifically, fishermen in the Philippines use it for this purpose. Another interesting use is in a location I can't remember, where local people use coconuts for sanitation. They use it as a filter because coconuts have different layers that can effectively filter out impurities. In addition to the coconuts, they also use other layers, such as sand, to filter dirty water into possibly clean drinking water. I feel like this primitive technology can be beneficial for people who don't have access to a proper filtration system for drinking water. It's interesting how coconuts, as a fruit, have so many benefits. I recommend listening to the episode; I think the title is "Coconut Fixing the World." It's a very interesting episode, only about 20 minutes long. You should give it a listen.
