As far as design is concerned

I think that things that are fundamental to the human experience should generally follow the design language of their predecessors,

That is, what worked in the past - you should keep its function similar and immediately intuitive.

I should never have to question how to flush a toilet
Or how to get water from a faucet

These things are ingrained in us and thus should be second nature. To tweak them is annoying and is design for design sake
