Bev's Infamous Pound Cake

My mother learned this recipe from her Dad (Nick Flora) - and it makes a wonderful dessert, and very sinful French Toast for breakfast... It's your basic pound cake except that the pound of fat is half butter and half sour cream.

Ingredients

1 cup soft butter (do not use margarine)

2 3/4 cups sugar

6 eggs

1/2 tsp salt

3 cups flour

1/4 tsp baking soda

1 cup sour cream

1 tsp flavoring (1/2 almond, 1/2 vanilla)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Cream butter and sugar till it's fluffy.
  3. Add eggs, 1 at a time; really beat it well.
  4. Mix dry ingredients, then add to egg mixture w/ sour cream (1/2 at a time).
  5. Add flavoring
  6. Line bottom of pan with wax paper.
  7. Bake 1 hr 20 min at 350 degrees. If you use bread pans (loaf pans), bake for 45 minutes (no wax paper), but turn the pans after 25 minutes.
  8. Cool 10 minutes, remove from pan.
  9. After its cool to the touch, dust with powdered sugar.
  10. Guaranteed to add 1 pound to your body for each slice...
