The universe extends seamlessly within and without, there is no separation. One reason we seem to experience the material world as separate is because of our identification with the body, whose senses provide one set of an infinite number of portals through which consciousness enters this dimension of experience. We both associate and distinguish this identication with self-as-psychological-entity, which is gathered together from accumulated sensory data translated into subjective thoughts and feelings creating the appearance of a unique inner landscape.

People can come to know God following near death experiences and total psychological breakdowns because their former sense of self, which had been confined to the body and mental/emotional data, temporarily comes to an abrupt end. And yet a clear awareness persists, suddenly released from these boundaries. This release is often accompanied by feelings of profound peace, beauty, awe and appreciation for being/universe/Self. This pure, all-encompassing awareness is then known to be the essential Self and is simultaneously understood as God. What we typically conceptualize as the soul is found to be the source of the entire cosmos and all its apparent myriad objects and beings, experiencing itself as and through this body-mind. This singular branching soul is the unmanifest origin and embodied reality of all that is.
