However one's story plays out, whatever the role to play in a given moment or situation, it's best not to take it too seriously. Sometimes the hero, sometimes the villain. Sometimes the strong, sometimes the needy. Sometimes the wise, sometimes the foolish. Sometimes the teacher, sometimes the student. And oftentimes, nobody in particular. Throughout it all, thoughts and feelings arise, words are spoken, interactions happen, and all of it is far bigger than any one individual involved. Constant fluctuations of seemingly good, seemingly bad and seemingly neutral events from start to finish, with the self-image and esteem of each human participant always in flux depending on the latest interpretation of the latest interchange that generated emotional impact.
So, confidence is fine and timidity is fine. Certainty is fine and confusion is fine. Excitement is fine and boredom is fine. Gaining is fine and losing is fine. These are all judgements drawn from moments and contexts picked out and isolated in the conditioned beliefs and ideas of the individual. In the greater context, each is equal to any other beyond the subjective interpretation being projected onto them. They all just appear to be the case from certain perspectives, and their comings and goings along the spectrums of their poles are inevitable as long as judgements arise. To idealize or condemn any is to create and compound suffering needlessly.
However things may appear at the moment, it's best not to take it too seriously. In no time at all, the tides and their accompanying judgements will change again.
