healed

Living organisms are perpetually pulled towards an optimal state of internal balance. This is what we call healing or recovery - the process of returning to an optimal state of functioning after incurring an injury.
Human beings, living in environments which are persistently causing psychological, emotional and physical harm, are forced into a perpetual state of recovery. This is the reason for the constant unease and pulls we feel towards certain things (such as this very subject and activity). It's all an effort to heal the organism. To repair the unease, discomfort and pain and return to a state of optimal functioning.
The truth is, in this society we're bred to be wounded addicts. It's extremely difficult to avoid getting hooked on things that numb our pain like substances, food, technology, possessions, attention, approval, entertainment, media, work, relationships, experiences and so on. We're surrounded by stimulants and depressants of all kinds, expensive marketing campaigns to convince us we need them and fellow humans involved in and promoting the same.
Think about most mammals living in the wild, how little activity they do relative to human beings. Once they've had their fill of basic sustainance they mostly just sit around, completely contented and at ease. Despite the constant dangers they face compared to most humans, they remain free of the vast list of neuroses that plague us. They are able to rest.
But to do such a simple thing as rest has become extremely difficult for us. Since our first days of school we've been forced to do things that conflict with our natural needs and desires. It's what we came to see as normal and good, this dutiful submission to convention against our instincts alongside perpetual consumption of materials, substances and entertainment.
What we're really doing is inflicting wounds every single day that we then need to heal from. Thus the seemingly endless bouts of unease, unhappiness, depressions, anxieties, fears, sorrows, and pain. They're all symptoms of the wounding our lifestyles are inflicting upon us.
Living organisms are perpetually pulled towards an optimal state of internal balance, but we can't ever reach that point if our lifestyles are inflicting fresh wounds on a daily basis. To be healed would be to return to a state of rest and ease, that's all. One in which the body is cared for, the heart/mind is clear and the spirit is given ample room for expression and play.
