Friday morning:

The sleep from which I woke this Friday was only about half there. Following a 1st sleep segment of about 4 hours I spent the next 3 1/2 hours very lightly dozing - not quite asleep, not really awake.

Morning health metrics are mixed. Body weight is too darned high, but the blood pressure reading is very good.  And the financial numbers all check out okay.

Friday evening:

Easing into my Friday night with no worries. The only chore I couldn't get to today will have to be put off until next week, but that's fine. Tuesday will be a good day to take care of it.

Listening to my 1st of two college football games on the radio at the moment. My 2nd radio game will take me nearly to midnight if I can stay awake that long. And that's a fine way to end a Friday in the Roscoe-verse.

Thursday morning:

The sleep from which I woke this morning was about as good as I ever get: a total of seven good hours coming in two segments separated by an insomnia break that was almost an hour long.

Health metrics and financials this morning all checked out okay. And the scheduled daily tasks all seem doable. I'm expecting a full Thursday, and a good Thursday.

Thursday evening:

The productive part of this day is over and I'm relaxing to the radio call of tonight's football game, now at half time. Sylvia told me today she won't need to be up early tomorrow so I've disabled the alarm that usually wakes me on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. This gives me four mornings in a row, today through Sunday, when I can sleep in. Can't tell you how good that makes me feel!

Wednesday morning:

A lot less sleep than I'd like and a lot more insomnia last night, but I was up in time to fix coffee and breakfast and see the wife off to work. The health metrics and financials checked out okay. And I moved slowly through the morning without breaking anything or spending any money. Gotta feel good about that.

Wednesday evening:

Though it had a very slow start, this turned out to be a very productive day. I made great progress sorting through the paperwork in my home office, and I was able to resolve an issue (at least for now) with my health insurance. And tonight's KofC Zoom meeting was a great end to my work day. I'm very much looking forward to the day when we'll be able to get together face to face but, until then, meeting online is certainly better than nothing.

Tuesday morning:

After a very good sleep (one short break, one wacky dream) I woke to find this joint uncommonly cool. Cold, actually. Made my way to the thermostat in the dining room and found it reading 62 degrees. Huh. So I changed its mode from "cool" to "heat" and headed back to bed to wait for the heater to warm things up in here.

The morning's health metrics and financials all checked out okay, and I expect a good day ahead.

Tuesday evening:

As expected, this was a good Tuesday. I managed to handle most of the chores I'd set for myself. What little remains undone can easily be handled tomorrow. And now for some prayers before bed.

Monday morning:

A grim and gloomy start to this morning, and I'm not sure why. Last night's sleep was about average: 3 1/2 hr. 1st sleep segment, followed by 45 min. insomnia break, then another sleep segment of a little more than three hours, finally waking 1/2 hour before my first alarm. That should be enough to see me through the day.

Local and National news is all pretty depressing, that's probably a source of the grimness I sense.

The morning's health metrics were surprisingly good, though, and the financials checked out okay. There is that to dispel the gloom. Yeah. Think I'll focus on that. And my prayers, of course.

[FYI, the above paragraphs were posted to my micro-blog today.]

Monday evening:

It didn't take long for this day to develop into a good one. With each hour, as I moved from chore to chore, the quality the day improved. As I listen to radio coverage of the Bears/Rams Game this evening there's a healthy sense of satisfaction in what I've been able to accomplish. And when I put head to pillow in a few hours it will be with no regrets about my part in this Monday.

Prayers, etc.:

  • 06:30 - Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel
  • 13:00 -  Day 5 of the KofC Novena Before the Beatification of Michael McGivney, meditations and prayers

Sunday morning:

I do miss attending Sunday Mass, but I simply refuse to attend under the ridiculous masking and social distancing mandates and other liturgical restrictions we have here. It is more important that I stay healthy. And staying healthy, for me, requires breathing freely. It also means avoiding stupid people and stupid situations as much as possible and keeping stress levels low.

Health metrics and financials checked out okay this morning.

Sunday evening:

This has not been my favorite day. The body seems to be reacting adversely  to weather changes moving into the area. Sometimes that happens.  One of today's most noticeable reactions has been in my eyesight: the glaucoma has been particularly giving me fits. It's kept me away from things I wanted to get done and made other things unusually difficult. So I need to be patient with myself.

We're to have thunderstorms tonight and chances of rain over the next several days before things settle down. Oh well... Better days are coming.

Prayers, etc.:

  • 08:30 - Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel
  • 14:15 - Sunday Prayers of the Association of the Auxilium Christianorum
  • 14:30 - Day 4 of the KofC Novena Before the Beatification of Michael McGivney, meditations and prayers

  • 17:00 - macaroni salad, pancit, sausage, BBQ'd steak and chicken.

Chores, etc.:

  • 10:30 - listen to Ann Barnhardt podcast #126
  • 11:15 - grocery shopping

Saturday 24/Oct/2020... listed and logged

Saturday morning:

It was a late start this morning because of massive insomnia last night. The first 3-hour sleep segment was followed by a 4-hour insomnia break. A 2nd 3-hour sleep segment ended my night. I can function with six hours of sleep, but some nap time will probably be on my agenda later today.

The morning's health metrics and financials were all good.

Saturday evening:

As late evening wanders into night I'm happy to note that this has been a good day in the Roscoe-verse. As planned there has been quality college football playing on the radio here all day long, sometimes back in my room and sometimes out in the front room (where I actually dozed for a bit in the recliner during the Notre Dame game, grabbing that nap time I expected.)  While the games were playing I was still able to work on all my pending chess games and keep up with my prayers.

Considering the local mask and social distancing mandates in effect, this has been about as good a day as I can hope for.  With 3 minutes yet to go in the 2nd Quarter of this football game, I have plenty of football left to follow before putting myself to bed. Think I'll get to it.

Prayers, etc.:

  • 09:30 - Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel
  • 11:50 - Day 3 of the KofC Novena Before the Beatification of Michael McGivney, meditations and prayers
  • 16:45 - Saturday Prayers of the Association of the Auxilium Christianorum
  • 19:25 - 5 Decades of the Rosary, The Glorious Mysteries
  • 19:50 - Lk 13:1-9

Diet:

  • 10:30 - bowl of oatmeal, 1 banana, bacon
  • 12:15 - beef stroganoff
  • 13:00 - blt sandwich
  • 16:30 - macaroni salad
  • 20:00 - munching on cheese

Chores, etc.:

  • 10:30 - tuned into SiriusXM Radio's Big 10 Channel Tailgate Show. First game up will be Ohio St. , next game will be IU, then... we'll see.
  • 11:00 - switched over to Sirius Fox Sports for the Ohio St. vs. Nebraska Game - Go Buckeyes!
  • 14:40 - Huh! Can't find the IU game on the radio, so I'll settle for a Big 12 Game - Iowa St. vs. OK St. for my 2nd game of the day.
  • 15:20 - switched over to the Notre Dame vs. Pitt game - Go Irish!
  • 18:45 - And it appears my final game of the night will be another from the Big 10 - Mich. vs. Minn, just starting

Chess:

  • 15:15 - moved in all pending CC games

Friday morning:

I woke easily (though not terribly quickly) from a pretty good sleep. The morning clumsiness is still with me as I type this, three hours after waking, but I trust that will fade away in due time. And though I'm still waiting for the mental acuity to reach a good level, I'm happy to note my mood is excellent: relaxed and positive.

The health metrics this morning and the financials were all great.

Friday evening:

Half-time now of the Big 10 Football Game I'm following on the radio and the fog of fatigue is creeping up on me. I'll be doing good to make it to the end of this game before sleep claims me, but I'm going to try. Maybe I'm confusing relaxation with fatigue. Can't think of why I should be tired tonight, but I'm seriously relaxed. This is my second day away from TV, filled now with political ads and fear mongering. That may have something to do with my sense of deep calm and ultra-low stress levels.

Prayers, etc.:

  • 06:30 - Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel
  • 09:15 - Friday Prayers of the Association of the Auxilium Christianorum
  • 19:40 -  Day 2 of the KofC Novena Before the Beatification of Michael McGivney

  • 10:15 - 1 ice cream bar

  • 16:00 - bowl of meat soup
  • 19:10 - snack on potato salad

Chores, etc.:

  • 07:30 - follow favorite commercial-free news sources
  • 09:00 - registered for this weekend's Catholic Identity Conference, will follow much of it live-streaming, then the rest of it later as recorded
  • 11:15 - published micro-blog post

Thursday morning:

I was surprised when I woke this morning to see how long I'd actually slept. Nine hours with only one brief break. There was a dream I woke with but it faded quickly, must have been of no consequence.

Morning health metrics were mixed: body weight was fine but the BP was a little high. Nothing to be overly concerned about. And the financials all looked good.

Thursday evening:

The first full day without any TV at all (no Network, no cable, no live streaming over the Internet from sites that allow advertising) has been a success. I have a greater sense of calm tonight than I've had for some time. My avoiding the political ads and the TV news shows by avoiding TV will continue until after the Presidential election on 03 November. I can get everything I need on the radio and by checking a few trusted voices on the Internet.

Prayers, etc.:

  • 07:45 - Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel
  • 08:15 - Daily Prayer for President Trump
  • 09:45 - 1 Our Father, 3 Hail Marys, 1 Glory be

  • 12:40 - home from shopping, done putting away groceries, relaxing

Wednesday morning:

The dream from which I woke this morning was another odd one, but it wasn't particularly unpleasant. May have been to you, but it wasn't to me. It involved murdering houseflies Last night's sleep itself was a good one. It brought me nearly 7 hours with one short break in the middle, and had me waking naturally 1/2 hour before the first alarm.

The mornings health metrics and financials were all very good, too.

Wednesday evening:

It does appear that the best thing for me to do is avoid all television for the next week and a half. Those political ads that are everywhere and the pontificating fools on the news shows are driving me to distraction. One thing I can't stand is liars trying to intimidate and influence me. And there's far too much of that on TV.

Tuesday morning:

Even without the alarm I woke naturally 1/2 hour after the 1st alarm would have gone off and 1/2 hour before the 2nd alarm. Guess my biological alarm was still set.

The detailed dream I was having as I woke was disturbing enough to make me glad to be rid of it. So I was happy enough to be sitting at the edge of my rather than down under the covers.

The morning health metrics and financials were all good. Happy about that.

Tuesday night:

What a strange day this has been. Seems like the hours have simply flown by. The only unusual activity was wrestling an old microwave out of the garage so Sylvia could give it away to a friend of hers. I'm glad to be rid of it. Wish we could get rid of a lot of the stuff in the garage that way. Hope the night ahead of me passes by as smoothly and easily as the day behinds me has.

Monday morning:

The day starts well. I was having an interesting dream when the first alarm went off, the eyes opened, the arm reached over to grab the phone, and my feet swung down to the floor. Oh yeah, I could have slept longer. But I'm confident a good enough nap will come my way after I've seen the wife off to work.

Health metrics and financials are all good this morning. So, bring it on Monday.

Monday evening:

Can't ask for a much better Monday than this has been, all things considered. It would be nice if my Dallas Cowboys were playing better tonight. But at least I'm able to follow their game over the radio, avoiding the offensive political  commercials and stupid antics of the TV announcers. And tonight I won't be setting the alarm because tomorrow I get to sleep until I wake naturally. Hopefully.

Sunday morning:

Got to sleep late last night, had an insomnia break that came late, then grabbed three more hours of sleep, and I guess I'm up for the day now. At least until a nap comes my way.

The morning's health metrics and financials were all fine, I'm happy to say..

Sunday evening:

Today has been one restful Sunday. Other than Sylvia fixing me a nice, big dinner, most of my day has been spent following football games: some from the recliner in the front room, and some from back here in my room. I caught myself dozing a few times in the recliner, so this was quite the nap-friendly day. The night game is about to start, and I have its pregame show playing from my bedside radio. Most likely I'll drift off to sleep while listening to it.

Can't ask for a better sleep than that from which I woke on Saturday morning: two sleep segments broken by one short insomnia episode bringing me over eight hours of good restful sleep in total. The morning health metrics and financials were all good. And I have a day full of college football to look forward to capped off by Svengoolie tonight.

Friday 16/Oct/2020... listed and logged.

Friday morning:

It was a short night from which I woke, short through no fault of my own. I was awake at 02:45 at the end of a short insomnia break and returning to sleep when the noise across the street started. Apparently the guy across the street had been driven home from the bar and the car that brought him had its sound system, especially the bass, turned up really loud. And the car was in ho hurry to leave. It stayed and kept the music playing for ... who knows how long? Half an hour? Long enough to bring me back wide awake and extend what started out as a short insomnia break into one much longer.

The morning health metrics and financials, when I finally checked them, were all in good shape.

Friday evening:

Three things to note about this day: 1.) Two power naps, one mid-morning and the other late afternoon, have helped tremendously. They've made up for last night's insomnia. 2.) I have no idea why, exactly, the listed.to blog powered by my Standard Notes app started working late this morning. I worked off and on all day yesterday trying to set it up and nothing seemed to work. Even now it's not as polished as it will eventually be. But it's up and running. And 3.) the TuneIn Radio app is really wonky this evening. Last night it brought in my college football clearly and without interruption. Now it's silent and [buffering...] more than it's bringing in the game. At least during tonight's first game through most of the first half of play. Sure hope that clears up.
