[31] How to Make Our Mental Pictures Come True

George Schubel

https://youtu.be/aFuxdLya6Zs

I want to consciously work with my imagination; consciously stimulate by asking the question "Why I want what I want," and use that to further visualize and dimensionalize my experience

  • I have reference experiences of different attributes that relate to what I desire to bring fort
    • I use those attributes in my visualization as I start to notice to the degree that I do this the outer world five sensory experience, behaviors, and so forth rearranging to reflect
  • This becomes an ongoing journey that I continue all the way till what I desire to see brought forth is brought forth

Preparing my Thought-Object for Reproduction

  • I have confidently selected a certain definite mental object which by mean so this method of deliberate visualizing has become the object of my heart's desire
  • My formulating faculties have been at work specializing and differentiating my desire, it has been placed in the current of my objective thinking, and now has taken shape as an object of thought in the photographic studio of my objective mind
    • I have an idea right now, to start a business and make a certain amount of money
  • Seating myself in a comfortable arm-chair which will permit the greatest possible relaxation, or reclining on a couch, or lying in bed, I begin my practical work by bringing the object of my heart's desire
    • My first consideration is the quiet, darkened room in some part of the house. This room will serve every mental purpose which I have covered in my preliminary studies- studio, dark chamber and developing room
    • I remember that if such a room is not available, then my work can be carried on at night in bed just as effectively
  • I recall the fact that this action of the will requires as little strenuous effort as does the photographer in placing his object in a position where he can photograph it to the best advantage
    • In fact, if the object is truly desired, then it is uppermost in my mind and in that position soon makes its presence felt in my consciousness without any effort on my part

Pouring Light upon my Thought-Object

  • Moved by the gentle heat generated by my thinking, my mechanical faculties, the mechanical apparatus of the mind, which I have termed my mental camera, imperceptibly glides into action, and in this same instant, sitting in my darkened room, I behold the objects not outwardly but inwardly
  • Seeing my thought-object in reflection
    • I am seeing my objects now, not directly, but by means of the single inner mental eye of the mind's camera which has caught up, collected and transmitted the rays of my illumined thinking into the illumining chamber of my consciousness. I behond my objects there and study them by means of reflection
  • Pouring more mental light upon my thought
    • What are the different experiences that I would have on the journey to the fulfillment of that particular experience that I want to see brought forth. Where can I go, what can I experience, who can I talk to, that will allow me to have some of those experiences. And have those experiences because by having those experiences, I then have a concrete reference structure to those experiences. Then, when I imagine and visualize those experiences in my mind's eye, then what I'll find is that I'll have a deeper connection with it because I will also have an association to the feeling of experience
    • Then to, I must be familiar, by means of outward observation and experience, with the things which relate themselves to my inner picture
  • If my thought of two-hundred and fifty thousand dollars is a vague one, then before I try to see it clearly in mind, I must go to the bank and ask the teller to show me two-thousand five-hundred one hundred dollar bills, which I study carefully, and in this way, I get "more light" upon the money; I am able to see it mentally more clearly
    • So with the business enterprise. If it is an automobile business I have in mind, I visit automobile factories and observe the method of building an automobile
    • So with the home. I visit the homes of my friends, I become acquainted with the various kinds of architecture, the kinds of brick and timber, the arrangement of rooms and every other detail which will help to "throw light" upon the thought of the home which I am contemplating now
  • However, there is yet a finer, rarer light of understanding which I will now apply; an "enlightenment" which will make my reflected thought of money, business and home ever so much more clear for impressive purposes, and which will bring me ever so much more positive results
    • I stimulate this finer light of understanding when in my contemplation, I ask myself "Why do I want the two-hundred and fifty thousand dollars, the business, the car", and when I answer this question from the inner spiritual source of all-light of my being, I bring a flood of illumination upon my projected thought
    • I now begin to see my thought about the money, the business, the car in an "entirely different light," as I say
  • I see now that it is not the thing which I want but rather that which the thing symbolizes. It is not the outer object but the inner object which I am in the process of bringing forth
    • What is this inner object or purpose? It is not the money but the power which money symbolizes; it is not the business but the means it provides me for extending my good will to others, and for providing happiness to those whom I love; it is not the home, the building of brick or timber, but the comfort the peace, the love, the joy, the domestic felicity, the shelter and protection which a home represents or should represent
    • The more I see my object in this light of spiritual understanding, the more inspired I become, and this inspired thinking provides the radiant and luminous mental light where- by my object becomes crystal clear to me
  • Establishing my correct viewpoint
    • Unless of an unusually spiritually endowed or instructed mind, I would have viewed my purpose in securing two-hundred and fifty thousand dollars, or a business, or a home, as the average mind these things. I would have viewed them simply as things
    • In the manner that my money represents power, so, as I have already seen, my business represents service, and other mental values; and in like manner my home symbolizes comfort, shelter, love, protection, and those other qualities which I usually associate with the thought of home
    • In a word, I now see these so-called things reflected in my mind not simply as things, but as the very underlying understanding of my being, formed, and projected and ready to be brought forth into my outward lives my understanding-light has shaped itself into the forms of money, business and home, and this understanding-light is made up of the prismatic qualities or causes which in this way become embodiments of power, service, and good-will, protection, love, comfort, harmony, peace, and joy in us and through us. Taking this viewpoint I need have no more concern with the impressiveness of my object and its power to reproduce itself

Focusing upon my Imagined Thought

  • I have said that concentration upon one single object of thought does not mean necessarily that my thought must be comprised of only one thing; it may take in a number of things so long as they are directly related and serve to make a complete picture, and this is so in the instance of the career which I am outpicturing
  • With proper light and a right viewpoint toward my thought, I focus my whole attention upon it, bearing in mind that I am now focusing not on the two-hundred and fifty thousand dollars, the business and home, but upon the qualities of joy, love, protection, peace and happiness of which these mental objects are merely symbols
  • Let me also bear in mind that this concentration does not imply a tension or strained effort of the will, but rather an easy and pleasant exercise
  • What I aim to avoid now is the intrusion of any vagrant thoughts which may and will seek to enter within the magic circle where my one definite thought is held
  • I must allow no fear thought, no opposing thought, no worry-thoughts, no alien thought of any kind to enter through my mental-camera eye, but rather must I keep my eye single to the one true thought of my career

Impressing my Imagined Thought

  • I have seen that my money, or business, or home is good for me to have and in the moment in which I truly acknowledge and recognize this fact mentally my thought will become an impressive one
    • It will make its impression upon us in the finest and most definite way possible
  • The shutter of the mind is voluntary and momentarily lifted, the full light of my understanding move into and impresses itself upon the sensitized film of my subjective thinking; it takes on the qualities of this subjective thinking and becomes en-filmed and sealed in the subjective; undergoing a silent, invisible inner development, or reduction on this way toward ultimate matter, and however infinitely inconceivable this reduction is, I can say that it is now becoming a more dense form than the pure form of mental light was before impression
    • I am now ready to follow my imagined thought in the next stage of its outward development

My Thought Impression in Solution

  • Resting in my passive or subjective attitude, a great calm comes over me at this moment; a great feeling of assurance and peace, and in most instances I fall into a restful, natural sleep
    • That is as it should be. In the few moments in which the transference has occurred, the outer faculties have performed their function. The inner subjective and subconscious phase of mind is now at work and further formulation of my mental picture of the money, the business and the home, has begun
  • My objective attitude of mind from this point on becomes, as I know, simply one of cooperation, and this cooperation is exemplified best when my thinking and acting in all my daily outward affairs is directed continually in ways which will facilitate the development of my thought
    • I must have an understanding faith in the outcome of my developing picture; I must henceforth be true and loyal to the subjective forces working for me; I must be mentally alert ot heir direction; I must be patient,; I must help by "getting into the spirit" of my picture; I must love it, as it were, into existence
    • But separate from this I know that a movement of the underlying natural forces of this substance of my subconscious thinking or mind-solution now has been started in motion, carrying my projected understanding or thought with them, not only to the very depths of my own individualized subconsciousness but to all other minds which are for the moment subjectively conditioned to my thinking, until my thought is carried out and submerged into the very ocean of universal sub-sense-consciousness, attracting unto itself not only other thoughts, but taking hold on the subsense side of all those things, circumstances, conditions, and persons who are to be part of its outward fulfillment

Reviewing my Developing Picture from Time to Time

  • The whole mental-mechanical and, to an extend, the mental-chemical process connected with the visualization of my career, has perhaps taken from ten to thirty minutes of quiet contemplation and reflection in my "silent room," depending upon the time which I have taken to get comfortably settled, and to concentrate upon my object
  • In these moments, I mentally lift my enfilmed-thought of my career from its subjective bath, and quietly meditate upon it and review its progress subjectively, always remembering, however, that my examination of my mental picture is possible at any time and anywhere. If I am true to my picture, I will find myself doing this, as I said before, without being consciously aware of the fact
  • Watching for outward indications
    • Unexpected persons, perhaps from a distance, having affinity or subjective kinship to my thought of money, business and home, now come to me in a seemingly miraculous manner
    • Seemingly trifling bits of information drift into my daily affairs, causal words are said, books are loaned to me, letters are received, and a hundred and one incidents of alike kind transpire, which manifest solely for the purpose of becoming a part of my forming picture

Strengthening my Developing Thought

  • So with the business which I am developing mentally. If it is an automobile business, then I want to know how it "feels" to handle a prospective customer, and so I talk to my friends and try to sell them a machine; I wax enthusiastic about the car to such a point where my friends will almost be ready to buy the automobile on the strength of what I say
    • I can, if I choose, offer my services to some sales concern without charge, if necessary, and in this way I not only "feel" my way into the business, but I get "into the spirit" of the "selling game" as it is called
    • In doing this, I must feel the happiness, the joy, and the interest of selling; I must feel that selling automobiles, or whatever other outward form my business is to take, is the one thing which I have wanted to do all my life, and this means that I love it
  • Let me remember always that my career is formulating, specializing, and providing expression for itself not only through the brain of us but through the heart of us also; so that- I am introducing into my formula now, not only the elements of interest, joy and gladness, but the element of love, the element which, charged into subconsciousness, contains not only the warmth but the mothering and nurturing qualities as well
    • The more of this element of love for my career which I can continually pour into the solution of my subconsciousness, the more responsive, giving, and yielding its forming substance will be to my attracting thought which is taking shape in it, and the more fixed and permanent will the outcome be, for this is the power and nature of love

[30] Outwitting the Doubt

Neville Goddard

https://youtu.be/KqXs-kZ3kmY

Premise

  • Transcendence is the act of rising above to an elevated state
    • When I achieve transcendence, I have gone beyond ordinary limitations, or self-imposed limitations, or limitations of the past, or limitations of the interpretations of others based on experiences that they've had that I may identify with

"Every battle is won before it is ever fought" Sun Tzu

Faith is loyalty to the unseen reality. Unseen being in my imagination and reality being what I experience here in the five sensory experience. I know that one day the unseen becomes seen

Accurate Interpretation

  • I deny everything that reason dictates. I close my eyes to the facts of life, the obvious things, and I clothe myself mentally in all that I would like to be
    • I imagine that people see me as they would see me if I were the man that I want to be. I imagine that I am actually standing where I would stand if I were that, and that I'm actually doing all the things I would do, normally and naturally, if what I am assuming were really true - if it were a fact
    • Well now, when I do this, I am clothing myself in the outer garments of naturalness of the facts
    • Now when I open my eyes on the facts of life, it denies everything that I've done. But I remember what I did. I caught that precious moment. For there is that moment in each day that doubt cannot find, and this helpmates cannot find it
  • First, I must be like the Watchman at the Gate. I must watch every thought that contains I Am.
    • I must see my journey all the way to success
    • Commit to the success
    • Know that it is done already, existing already in the unseen reality and I will see it in reality through maintaining the ideal state of mind. The ideal state of mind is what I am saying I Am to
  • Another important word to watch is "if." The conscious mind is very subtle in expressing doubt
  • I may be able to keep my mind focused don what I want by using positive "I" statements. If I am not careful, I may let a little "If" sneak in without recognizing its implication
    1. Doubts from Past overcome by Hindsight
    2. Doubts from Present overcome by Insight
    3. Doubts from Future overcome by Foresight

Fourth-Dimensional Self (The Unseen as Seen)

  • Instead of being a three-dimensional sense man, using a fourth dimensional power, I am now identified with a fourth dimensional power using a three-dimensional sense man as an instrument
  • There are two actual outlooks on the world possessed by everyone - a natural focus and a spiritual focus
    • The ancient teachers called the one "the carnal mind," the other "the mind of Christ." I may differentiate them as ordinary waking consciousness- governed by my senses, and a controlled imagination - governed by desire
  • All changes take place in consciousness. The future, although prepared in every detail in advance, has several outcomes. At every moment of my life I have before me the choice of which of several future I will choose

[29] How to Develop Self-Confidence & Influence People by Public Speaking

Dale Carnegie

https://youtu.be/aGD_Q2NzeCs

There is a cybernetic loop here: When I improve my ability to speak publicly through influential ways, by influencing others to take action, I improve my self-confidence. When my self-confidence goes up, my ability to influence and speak publicly goes up as well

Intro

The gaining of self-confidence and courage, and the ability to think calmly and clearly while talking to a group is not one-tenth as difficult as most people imagine. It is not a gift bestowed by Providence on only a few rarely endowed individuals. It is like the ability to play golf. Anyone can develop his own latent capacity if he has sufficient desire to do so

  • Public speaking is a skill
  • Learning how to influence is a skill
  • Developing these skills raises my self-confidence

Speakers often experience this same feeling even when they are talking over the radio. "Microphone fright"

  • Some people, no matter how often they speak, always experience this self-confidence just before they commence but, in a few seconds after they have gotten on their feet, it disappears
  • Real influence comes from my ability to speak from the subconscious. Learning how to do this comes from repetition and not relying on scripts or formalities

There are many exercises that will develop self-confidence but the public speaking is one of the best

  • Doing it the right way
  • I speak from a place of subconscious where information flows out of me. I might make mistakes, but my authenticity connects to the audience
  • Not to gratify the ego
    • The ego is surface level, the subconscious is deep
    • If I focus on how I look, trying to be cool, or impressing others, then I am just gratifying my ego and while I may get approval from it, my approval is going to be externally dependent
    • What I want is internal acceptance of who I am
  • Influencing action
    • I develop public speaking, not for egotistical reasons to look cool, but to positively influence others
  • A good public speaker can still fluctuate on self-confidence
    • I operate from a win-win perspective: What's in it for the audience and making it about them and not gratifying the ego
  • Core confidence is not taught through theory, it is gained through action based experience
  • Core confidence vs externally oriented confidence
    • My core confidence is who I am, what I say, and what I have to offer
    • If I am externally oriented in my confidence, then I am presenting so that others will approve of me

The four areas

Starting with a strong and persistent purpose

  • The desire to share, influence, and to bring about positive change
  • The desire to go against what others may tell me about my ability
  • The desire to be able to think for myself
  • If my desire is not strong enough, I will not take action or I will create unnecessary resistance

Know thoroughly what I am going to talk about

  • I don't always need the credentials if I know what I am talking about
  • Some subjects do require credentials or references
  • A passionate speaker usually resonates more with an audience rather than a knowledgeable one
  • Strategies (Eben Pagan - Clear communication)
    • Know what I want to achieve and be willing to experiment till I get it
    • The most important communication I have is with myself
    • The second most important communication I have is with my audience
    • The responsibility of my communication belongs to the communicator
    • Be the message I am trying to communicate
  • Self-confidence through preparation
    • Does the preparation of a speech mean the getting together of some faultless phrases written down or memorized? No. Does it mean the assembling of a few casual thoughts that really convey very little to me personally? Not at all.
    • Assembling of my thoughts, my ideas, my convictions, my urges. I have them every day of my waking life. They even swarm through my dreams. My whole existence has been filled with feelings and experiences. These things are lying deep in my subconscious mind as thick as pebbles on the seashore. Preparation means thinking, brooding, recalling, selecting the ones that appeal to me most, polishing them, working them into a pattern, a mosaic of my own
    • I will find that the sermons I enjoy preach the most and the ones which actually accomplish the most good in the lives of my people will be those sermons which I take most largely out of my own interiors
  • How to Prepare my Talk
    • What topics ought me to speak on for practice? Anything that interest me
    • Determine my subject in advance, so that I will have time to think it over in odd moments. Think over it for seven days; dream over it for seven nights
    • While preparing, study my audience. Think of their Wants, their Wishes. That is sometimes half the battle
    • The way to develop reserve power is to know far more than I can use, to have a full reservoir of information
    • Don't read, and don't attempt to memorize my talk word for word
  • How to Open a Talk
    • Arousing curiosity
    • Relating to a human interest story
    • Beginning with a specific illustration
    • Using an exhibit
    • Asking a question
    • Opening with a striking quotation
    • Showing how the topic affects the vital interest of the audience
    • Starting with shocking facts
    • Don't make my opening too formal. Don't let the bones show. Make it appear free, casual, inevitable. This can be done by referring to something that has just happened, or something that has just been said
  • How to Interest my Audience
    • My chief interest is myself
    • The person who leads others to talk about themselves and their interests and listens intently will generally be considered a good conversationalist, even though he does very little talking
    • Interest is contagious. The audience is sure to catch it if the speaker myself has a bad case of it. But it cannot be won by the mechanical adherence to mere rules
  • How to Close a Talk
    • Stop but don't talk about stopping
    • Summarizing, restating, outlining briefly the main points I have covered
    • Appealing for action
    • Raising a laugh

Practice Confidence

"Fear is begotten of ignorance and uncertainty," says Professor Robinson in The Mind in the Making. To put it another way: it is the result of a lack of confidence. And what causes that? IT is the result of not knowing what I can really do. And not knowing what I can do is caused by a lack of experience. When I get a record of successful experience behind me, my fears will vanish

  • Practicing my craft while developing my ability to speak publicly about that is going to give me the experience

I have only four contacts with people. I am evaluated and classified by four things:

  • What I do
  • How I look
  • What I say
  • How I say it

To develop courage when I am facing an audience, act as if I already had it or act as if it was impossible to fail

Every talk, regardless of whether the speaker realizes it or not, has one of four major goals. (Set my Goal)

  • To make something clear
  • To impress and convince
  • To get action
  • To entertain

Concepts (Eben Pagan's Clear Communication)

  • The meaning of the communication is the response I get
  • I must always be checking, testing, confirming, and aligning
  • Projection
    • What is the emotional state of someone that has achieved this?
    • I communicate the emotional state of somebody who has already achieved my goal and I am projecting that state outwards
  • Lying is stressful
    • Stress is the major killer behind most diseases
    • A major cause of stress is lying and the biggest type of lie is withholding information which diverts people into not knowing what is going on

The Secret of Good Delivery

  • There is something besides the mere words in a talk which counts. It is the flavor with which they are delivered. "It is not so much what I say as to how I say it."
  • Many speakers ignore their hearers, stare over their heads or at the floor. They seem to be delivering a soliloquy. There is no sense of communication, no give and take between the audience and the speaker. That kind of attitude would kill a conversation; it also kills a speech
  • Good delivery is conversational tone and directness enlarged
  • Talk to my hearers just as if I expected them to stand up in a moment and talk back to me
  • Put my heart into my talking. Real emotional sincerity

Presence and Personality

  • According to experiments conducted by the Carnegie Institute of Technology, personality has more to do with business success than has superior knowledge
  • Don't speak when I am tired. Rest, recuperate, store up a reserve of energy
  • Do nothing to dull my energy. It is magnetic. People cluster around the energetic speaker like wild geese around a field of autumn wheat
  • Smile. Come before my hearers with an attitude that seems to say I am glad to be here

General pointers

  • Step out briskly and take a deep breathe. In fact, breathe deeply for thirty seconds before I ever face my audience. The increased supply of oxygen will build me up and give me courage
  • Stride forward bravely, stop, stand still and act as if I loved it
  • Draw myself up to my full height, look at my audience straight in the eyes, and begin to talk as confidently as if every one of them owed me money
  • Do not nervously button or unbutton my coat, play with my beads, or fumble with my hands
  • As a general rule, it is bad for a speaker to hide behind furniture; but it may give me a little courage the first few times to stand behind a table or chair and to grip them tightly-or hold a coin firmly in the palm of my hand

Practice! Practice! Practice!

  • What I need is not courage, but nerve control, cool-headedness. This I can get only by actual practice
    • It will feel uncomfortable but I must embrace it
    • Most people will not take this much action
    • 80% action 20% theory
  • Improving my diction
    • My diction will be very largely a reflection of the company I keep
    • Read with a dictionary by my side. Look up the unfamiliar word. Try to find a use for it so that I may fix it in my memory
    • Study the derivation of the words I use
  • Connecting with people reveals to me details about myself
  • Take notes on how I can optimize my progress

Optimizations

  • Power
    • Am I clear and specific?
    • Is my eye contact strong but not overbearing?
    • Am I energetic?
    • Am I being assertive?
    • Am I looking for approval or reading the situation?
  • Presence
    • Am I in the moment?
    • Are my words, body language and voice tonality in alignment?
    • Is my energy grounded?
    • Am I being real or putting on a front?
  • Warmth
    • Do I have the passion for what I am talking about?
    • Am I smiling?
    • Is there a sense of feeling and connection with my audience?
    • Is there a sense of compassion in my communication?

Action Items

  • Book time to speak at formal events or host workshops
  • Start a YouTube channel or an online platform that uses video to communicate
  • Participate in discussion groups or forums
  • Speak to at least 5 new people or groups a day in public
  • Reference back to this blog before and after I take the suggested actions to further optimization

[28] How to Tune your "Inner Voice" to "Infinite Intelligence"

Joseph Rodrigues

https://youtu.be/hvTszxs9ImM

Introduction

  • I ask "Who am I really?" Upon reflection, I realize that the self-image or who I am may or may not be in alignment with who I really want to be. I then form this concept called "Higher-self." This higher self represents who I aspire to be: My true self. This is revealed to me through inner voice; hunches, inspirations, visions, or conversations with myself
  • As I live more as the higher self, I realize that there's a lot of programming that may exist within me that denies this higher self when I find joy, happiness, and fulfillment when I live as my higher self
    • My self-esteem, self-confidence, self-love, and self-acceptance increases
    • Love, confidence, and acceptance also increases as far as I interpret five sensory data
    • I discover certain purposes: Definite chief aims
    • I realize that I always had the power within myself to create whatever success that I want
    • I receive greater visions or conversations with my higher self via my inner voice
    • Certain hunches, inspirations, and plans are revealed to me to create as a result of my inner conversation: a conversation with Infinite Intelligence
  • I recognize that Infinite Intelligence is infinite and as I do so, it expands. Then, it continuously evolves as I evolve
    • This all happens via my inner voice and the conversations I have with my higher self
    • As I live my higher self, I evolve in a deeper relationship and conversation with Infinite Intelligence

3 Important Lessons

  1. Through the faculty of creative imagination, the finite mind has direct communication with Infinite Intelligence. It is through my creative imagination where hunches, inspirations are received as voice, image or other sensory stimulus. It is by this process where opportunities and resources are revealed to me
  2. While in "flow," Infinite Intelligence hands over the plan at the right time. This is also known as living in the image of my "higher self" as I am part of a bigger plan
    • "Flow" is act of faith and will keep me alert. When plans or ideas appear via my "inner voice," put them into action immediately. Sometimes the plans are complete and sometimes they are given as the first step
    • When the plans appear, they will "flash" into my mind through the sixth sense, in the form of an "inspiration." This inspiration may be considered a direct "download," or message from Infinite Intelligence via my inner voice. Treat this plan as sacred and with unconditional love by acting upon it
  3. Through the unknown ways of Infinite Intelligence, my subconscious mind draws upon the visible and invisible forces to leverage the most practical resources available in the form of thought, emotional, action or environment
    • Deliberate "inspired" action may be required in the beginning and through constant alignment with my "higher self," my body will appear to move automatically as awareness and action become one

Inner Voice Attunement

  • Fundamentally, this is done by releasing disempowering programming, beliefs, and assumptions that I have about myself, others, information, circumstance, and environment
  • Through identifying and releasing these elements, I build a higher degree of self-esteem, self-love, self-acceptance, and self-confidence which facilitates my inner-voice connection
  • Speaks of abundance of opportunity and resources available and how to combine them as contribution to my definite chief aim
    • The inner conversation of how that will be revealed to me via my inner voice and conversation with the infinite intelligence
  • Teaches how to accept myself so that I make peace with people, environment, circumstance and information in my life
    • The outer world is a reflection of my inner world, so how I interpret others, environment, circumstances, and information is how I interpret myself
  • Guides us to speak and express my truth through my higher-self based creative expression
    • I have a purpose. I am in the journey of realizing and affirming my higher self onto my subconscious mind and living from that perspective. Through this, I will find my own contribution in service to others, called creative expression
  • Helps to transmute the meaning of five sensory data into affirmations in relation to my definite chief aim
    • Beliefs and assumptions are not static. I can evolve the meaning. This is done through conversations with infinite intelligence
  • Teaches me how to affirm my own abundance through allowing others to have their own in the spirit of harmony
    • I get what I want by contributing: Being in service to others
  • Teaches me how to learn and be inspired by others
    • When the student is ready, the teacher appears. And vice versa
  • Teaches me how to express my power without trying to take it from anyone else
    • The spirit of harmony is one with infinite intelligence because it's infinite, so why would it need to be anything less than
  • Teaching me how to remain in the present moment and not relive past aspects that are not in harmony with my higher self
    • The journey is as important as the destination. They are one. All is one. I create polarity so I can understand. When I am in flow, I see it as one. I value my successes. I aim for success. I also value and enjoy the journey. This is called being present in the moment. This results in a higher degree of self-acceptance, confidence, and faith which further facilitates and tunes myself to the connection of Infinite Intelligence
  • Guides into harmony of polarity to what is related to my higher self
    • Everything has polarity. There is no absolute, truth is constantly realizing
  • Guides me into the feeling of completeness and knowingness that I am perfect right now and I always do my best
    • This helps release from shame and make peace with my past
  • Teaches me to believe in my decisions as affirmation
  • Brings to conscious awareness to what is within my subconscious mind
  • Guides me to build and create in reality as a service to others in collaboration with others who are realizing and living their "higher self"
    • Once I accept and affirm my higher self over time, I notice a desire to be around others and information that aligns me with my higher self, connects me to my inner voice, and builds my unique relationship with infinite intelligence
  • Guides me to see through any chaos or confusion
    • This is a realization journey, so my relationship with Infinite Intelligence and my inner voice becomes clearer and when I see chaos or confusion, I am able to have a conversation with myself via inner voice and find out how I can raise above the chaos and things will start to make even more sense
  • Facilitates a deeper empathetic connection with all beings as a grand mastermind, in the spirit of harmony
  • When I am aligned with my higher self, I notice that all people, circumstance, environment, and information are in contribution. The grand mastermind becomes apparent to my definite chief aim. More people, more circumstances, and more reflections in the outer world serve me. More opportunities show up. I will have a hunch or inspiration to move in a certain direction that will lead me to an opportunity or resource or end result

As I evolve, so will where my attention goes to be more so in harmony and in alignment with what I want to create

  • I can operate from a place of focus or distraction. I want unwavering focus which is aligned with my higher self

Introduction

  • I am "The Master of my Fate, the Captain of my Soul" - Ernest Henley
    • I have the power to control my thoughts, which have a certain vibration based on it's emotion
    • He should have told us that the ether in which this little earth floats, in which we move and have our being, is a form of energy moving at an inconceivably high rate of vibration, and that the ether is filled with a form of universal power which Adapts itself to the nature of the thoughts I hold in my mind; and Influences me, in natural ways, to transmute my thoughts into their physical equivalent
  • The Principle of Vibration
    • "The lips of wisdom are closed, except to the ears of Understanding." - The Kybalion
    • Nothing rests; everything moves; everything vibrates
    • I attract who I am based on the frequency I am vibrating at
    • Hermeticists believe that even thoughts have their own rate of vibration, and can be controlled like tuning an instrument, to produce various results for the aim of self and environment mastery
    • As my understanding of vibration, frequency, harmony, and resonance increase, so too shall my power of myself and my world
    • This Principle explains that the differences between different manifestations of Matter, Energy, Mind, and even Spirit, result largely from varying rates of Vibration

The Ten Mind Stimuli

  • The human mind responds to stimuli, through which it may be "keyed up" to high rates of vibration, known as enthusiasm, creative imagination, intense desire, etc. The stimuli to which the mind responds most freely are:
    1. The desire for sex expression: possession of this energy is not sufficient to produce a genius. The energy must be transmuted from desire for physical contact, into some other form of desire and action, before it will life one to the status of a genius
    2. Love
    3. A burning desire for fame, power, or financial gain, money
    4. Music
    5. Friendship
    6. A master mind alliance based upon the harmony of two or more people who ally themselves for spiritual or temporal advancement: When multiple people work together in harmony, the ideas generated are greater than the ideas articulated if generated alone
    7. Mutual suffering, such as that experienced by people who are persecuted
    8. Auto-suggestion
    9. Fear: A man whose mind is filled with fear not only destroys his own chances of intelligent action, but, he transmits these destructive vibrations to the minds of all who come into contact with him, and destroys, also their chances. The vibrations of fear pass from one mind to another just as quickly and as surely as the sound of the human voice passes from the broadcasting station to the receiving set of a radio - and By the Self-same medium. Mental telepathy is a reality. Thoughts pass from one mind to another, voluntarily, whether or not this fact is recognized by either the person releasing the thoughts, or the person who pick up those thoughts. The person who gives expression, by word of mouth, to negative or destructive thoughts is practically certain to experience the result so of those words in the form of a destructive "kick-back." The release of destructive thought impulses, alone, without the aids of words produce also a "kickback" in more ways than one. Firsts of all, and perhaps most importantly to be remembered, the person who releases thoughts of a destructive nature, must suffer damage through the breaking down the faculty of creative imagination. Secondly, the presence in the mind of any destructive emotion develops a negative personality which repels people, and often converts them into antagonists. The third source of damage to the person who entertains or releases negative thoughts, lies in this significant fact- these thought-impulses are not only damaging to others, but they imbed themselves in the subconscious mind of the person releasing them, and there become a part of his character.
    10. Narcotics and alcohol
  • The desire for sex expression comes at the head of the list of stimuli, which most effectively "step-up" the vibrations of the mind and start the "wheels" of physical action. Eight of these stimuli are natural and constructive. Two are destructive
  • A mind stimulant is any influence which will either temporarily, or permanently, increase the vibrations of thought. The ten major stimulants, described, are those major commonly resorted to. Through these sources one may commune with Infinite Intelligence, or enter, at will, the storehouse of the subconscious mind, either one's own or that of another person, a procedure which is all there is of genius
  • The person who thinks will want to ask some questions concerning this definition of genius. The first question will be, "How may one communicate with sources of knowledge which are not available through the Ordinary rate of vibration of thought?"
    • "Genius" is developed through the Sixth Sense
    • The reality of a "sixth sense" has been fairly well established. This sixth sense is "Creative Imagination." The faculty of creative imagination is one which the majority of people never use during an entire lifetime, and if used at all, it usually happens by mere accident. A relatively small number of people use, with deliberation and purpose aforethought, the faculty of creative imagination
  • Now, thanks to this same power of Faith, men know that far from being either dead or a void, the space between the planets is very much alive, that it is the highest form of vibration known, excepting, perhaps, the vibration of Thought. Moreover, men know that this living, pulsating, vibratory energy which permeates every atom of matter, and fills every niche of space, connects every human brain with every other human brain

The Brain

  • The Creative Imagination is the "receiving set" of the brain, which receives thoughts, released by the brains of others. It is the agency of communication between one's conscious, or reasoning mind, and the four sources from which one may receive thought stimuli
  • When stimulated, or "stepped up" to a high rate of vibration, the mind becomes more receptive to the vibration of thought which reaches it thought the ether from outside sources
    • This "stepping up" process takes place through the positive emotions, or the negative emotions. Through the emotions, the vibrations of thought may be increased
  • Vibrations of an exceedingly high rate are the only vibrations picked up and carried, by the ether, from one brain to another. Thought is energy travelling at an exceedingly high rate of vibration
    • Thought, which has been modified or "stepped up" by any of the major emotions, vibrates at a much higher rate than ordinary thought, and it is this type of thought which passes from one brain to another, through the broadcasting machinery of the brain
  • The result of sex transmutation, is the increase of the rate of vibration of thoughts to such a pitch that the Creative Imagination becomes highly receptive to ideas, which picks up from the ether
    • On the other hand, when the brain is vibrating at a rapid rate, it not only attracts thought and ideas released by other brains through the medium of the ether, but it gives to one's own thoughts that "feeling" which is essential before those thoughts will be picked up and acted upon by one's subconscious mind
  • The subconscious mind is the "sending station" of the brain, through which vibrations of thought are broadcast. The Creative Imagination is the "receiving set," through which the vibrations of thought are picked up from the ether
    • Somewhere in the cell-structure of the brain, is located an organ which receives vibrations of thought ordinarily called "hunches." So far, science has not discovered where this organ of the sixth sense is located, but this is not important. The fact remains that human beings do receive accurate knowledge, through sources other than the physical senses
    • Such knowledge, generally, is received when the mind is under the influence of extraordinary stimulation. Any emergency which arouses the emotions, and causes the heart to beat more rapidly than normal may, and generally does, bring the sixth sense into action

Persistence

  • Fortunes gravitate to men whose minds have been prepared to "attract" them, just as surely as water gravitates to the ocean. In this book may be found all the stimuli necessary to "attune" any normal mind to the vibrations which will attract the object of one's desires
    • If I find I am weak in Persistence, center my attention and surround myself with a "Master Mind" group, and through the cooperative efforts of the members of this group, I can develop persistence

Chapter 15: How to Outwit the Six Ghosts of Fear

  • Before I can put any portion of this philosophy into successful use, my mind must be prepared to receive it. The preparation is not difficult. It begins with study, analysis, and understanding of three enemies which I shall have to clear out. These are Indecision, Doubt, and Fear!
  • The Sixth Sense will never function while these three negatives, or any of them remain in my mind. The members of this unholy trio are closely related; where one is found, the other two are close at hand
  • Indecision is the seedling of Fear! Remember this, as I read. Indecision crystalizes into Doubt, the two blend and become Fear!
  • The Six Basic Fears:
    1. Poverty
    2. Criticism
    3. Ill Health
    4. Loss of love or someone
    5. Old Age
    6. Death
  • Fears are nothing more than states of mind. One's state of mind is subject to control and direction
  • Man can create nothing which he does not first conceive in the form of an impulse of thought. Following this statement, comes another of still greater importance, namely, man's thought impulses begin immediately to translate themselves into their physical equivalent, whether those thoughts are voluntary or involuntary
  • The Devil's Workshop
    • In addition to the Six Basic Fears, there is another evil by which people suffer. It constitutes a rich soil in which the seeds of failure grow abundantly. It is so subtle that its presence often is not detected. This affliction cannot properly be classed as a fear. It is more deeply seated and more often fatal than all of the six fears. For want of a better name, let us call this evil susceptibility to negative influences
    • Men who accumulate great riches always protect themselves against this evil! I take inventory of my life to see where I'm being negatively influenced
  • To protect myself against negative influences:
    • Whether of my own making or the result of the activities of negative people around me, I recognize that I have a Will-Power, and put it into constant use, until it builds a wall of immunity against negative influences in my own mind
    • I recognize the fact that I, and every other human being, are, by nature, lazy, indifferent, and susceptible to all suggestions which harmonize with my weaknesses
    • I recognize that I am, by nature, susceptible to all the six basic fears, and set up habits for the purpose of counteracting all these fears
    • I recognize that negative influences often work on me through my subconscious mind, therefore they are difficult to detect, and keep my mind closed against all people who depress or discourage me in any way
    • Deliberately seek the company of people who influence me to think and act for myself
  • Without doubt, the most common weakness of all human beings is the habit of leaving their minds open to the negative influence of other people
  • I have Absolute Control over but one thing, and that is my thoughts. This is the most significant and inspiring of all facts known to man! It reflects man's Divine nature. This Divine prerogative is the sole means by which I may control my own destiny. If I fail to control my own mind, I may be sure I will control nothing else
  • Mind control is the result of self-discipline and habit. I either control my mind or it controls me. There is no hall-way compromise. The most practical of all methods for controlling the mind is the habit of keeping it busy with a definite purpose, backed by a definite plan

Chapter 13: The Brain

  • More than twenty years ago, the author, working in conjunction with the late Dr. Alexander Graham Bell, and Dr. Elmer R. Gates, observed that every human brain is both a broadcasting and receiving station for the vibration of thought
    • Through the medium of the ether, in a fashion similar to that employed by the radio broadcasting principle, every human brain is capable of picking up vibrations of thought which are being released by other brains
  • When stimulated, or "stepped up" to a high rate of vibration, the mind becomes more receptive to the vibration of thought which reaches it through the either from outside sources
    • This "stepping up" process takes place through the positive emotions, or the negative emotions. Through the emotions, the vibrations of thought may be increased
  • Vibrations of an exceedingly high rate are the only vibrations picked up and carried, by the ether, from one brain to another. Thought is energy travelling at an exceedingly high rate of vibration. Thought, which has been modified or "stepped up" by any of the major emotions, vibrates at a much higher rate than ordinary thought, and it is this type of thought which passes from one brain to another, through the broadcasting machinery of the human brain
  • The subconscious mind is the "sending station" of the brain, through which vibrations of thought are broadcast. The Creative Imagination is the "receiving set," through which the vibrations of thought are picked up from the ether
  • Sometimes men speak lightly of the intangibles- the things which the cannot perceive through any of their five senses, and when we hear them, it should remind us that all of us are controlled by forces which are unseen and intangible

Chapter 14: The Sixth Sense

  • The "thirteenth" principle is known as the Sixth Sense, through which Infinite Intelligence may, and will communicate voluntarily, without any effort from, or demands by, the individual
    • This principle is the apex of the philosophy. It can be assimilated, understood, and applied Only by first mastering the other twelve principles
  • The Sixth Sense is that portion of the subconscious mind which has been referred to as the Creative Imagination. It has also been referred to as the "receiving set" through which ideas, plans, and thoughts flash into the mind. The "flashes" are sometimes called "hunches" or "inspirations."
  • The sixth sense defies description! It cannot be described to a person who has not mastered the other principles of this philosophy, because such a person has no knowledge, and no experience with which the sixth sense may be compared. Understanding of the sixth sense comes only by meditation through mind development from within. The sixth sense probably is the medium of contact between the finite mind of man and Infinite Intelligence, and for this reason, it is a mixture of both the mental and the spiritual. It is believed to be the point at which the mind of man contacts the Universal Mind
  • Through the aid of the sixth sense, I will be warned of impending dangers in time to avoid them, and notified of opportunities in time to embrace them
  • The sixth sense is not something that one can take off and put on at will. Ability to use this great power comes slowly, through the application of the other principles outlined in this book. Seldom does any individual come into workable knowledge of the sixth sense before the age of forty. More often the knowledge is not available until one is well past fifty, and this, for the reason that the spiritual forces, with which the sixth sense is so closely related, do not mature and become usable except through years of meditation, self-examination, and serious thought

Chapter Chapter 11: The Mystery of Sex Transmutation

  • The meaning of the word "transmute" is, in simple language, the "changing, or transferring of one element, or form of energy, into another."
    • The emotion of sex brings into being a state of mind
    • Because of ignorance on the subject, the state of mind is generally associated with the physical, and because of improper influences, to which most people have been subjected, in acquiring knowledge of sex, things essentially physical have highly biased the mind
  • Sex transmutation is simple and easily explained. It means the switching of the mind from thoughts of physical expression, to thoughts of some other nature
  • Sex desire is the most powerful of human desires. When driven by this desire, I develop keenness of imagination, courage, will-power, persistence, and creative ability unknown to them at other times
    • So strong and impelling is the desire for sexual contact that men freely run the risk of life and reputation to indulge in it. When harnessed, and redirected along other lines, this motivating force maintains all of its attributes of keenness of imagination, courage, etc., which may be used as powerful creative forces in literature, art, or in any other profession or calling, including, of course, the accumulation of riches
  • The transmutation of sex energy calls for the exercise of will-power, to be sure, but the reward is worth the effort. The desire for sexual expression is inborn and natural. The desire cannot, and should not be submerged or eliminated. But it should be given an outlet through forms of expression which enrich the body, mind, and spirit. If not given this form of outlet, through transmutation, it will seek outlets through purely physical channels
    • Not having these outlets will distract me and take time away from my definite chief aim. I may even be set back and feel frustrated
  • A sex-mad man is not essentially different than a dope-mad man! Both have lost control over their faculties of reason and will-power. Sexual overindulgence may not only destroy reason and will-power, but it may also lead to either temporary, or permanent insanity. Many cases of hypochondria (imaginary illness) grow out of habits developed in ignorance of the true function of sex
  • Love, Romance, and Sex are all emotions capable of driving men to heights of super achievement. Love is the emotion which serves ass a safety valve, and insures balance, poise, and constructive effort. When combined, these three emotions may lift one to an altitude of a genius

Chapter 12: The Subconscious Mind

  • The Subconscious Mind consists of a field of consciousness, in which every impulse of thought that reaches the objective mind through any of the five senses, is classified and recorded, and from which thoughts may be recalled or withdrawn as letter may be taken from a filing cabinet
  • It receives, and files, sense impressions or thoughts, regardless of their nature. I may Voluntarily plant in my subconscious mind any plan, thought, or purpose which I desire to translate into its physical or monetary equivalent. The subconscious acts first on the dominating desires which have been mixed with emotional feelings, such as faith
  • The subconscious mind works day and night. Through a method of procedure, unknown to man, the subconscious mind draws upon the forces of Infinite Intelligence for the power with which it voluntarily transmutes my desires into their physical equivalent, making use, always of the most practical media by which this end may be accomplished
  • After I have accepted, as a reality, the existence of the subconscious mind, and understand its possibilities, as a medium for transmuting my Desires into their physical or monetary equivalent, I will comprehend the full significance of the instructions given in the chapter on Desire. I will also understand why I have been repeatedly admonished to make my desires clear, and to reduce them to writing. I will also understand the persistence in carrying out instructions
  • The subconscious mind will not remain idle! It I fail to plant Desires in my subconscious mind, it will feed upon the thoughts which reach it as the result of my neglect
    • The subconscious mind is more susceptible to influence by impulses of thought mixed with "feeling" or emotion, than by those originating solely in the reason portion of the mind. In fact, there is much evidence to support the theory, that Only emotionalized thoughts have any Action influence upon the subconscious mind
  • The six major positive emotions
    1. Desire
    2. Faith
    3. Sex
    4. Enthusiasm
    5. Romance
    6. Hope
  • The major negative emotions (to be avoided)
    1. Fear
    2. Jealousy
    3. Hatred
    4. Revenge
    5. Greed
    6. Superstition
    7. Anger
  • Positive and negative emotions cannot occupy the mind at the same time. One or the other must dominate. It is my responsibility to make sure that positive emotions constitute the dominating influence of my mind. Here, the law of Habit will come to my aid. Form the habit of applying and using the positive emotions! Eventually, they will dominate my mind so completely, that the negative ones cannot enter it
  • The method by which I may communicate with Infinite Intelligence is very similar to that through which the vibration of sound is communicated by radio. If I understand the working principle of radio, I of courses, know that sound cannot be communicated through the ether until it has been "stepped up," or changed into a rate of vibration which the human ear cannot detect
    • The radio sending the station picks up the sound of the human voice, and "scrambles," or modifies it by stepping up the vibration millions of times. Only in this way, can the vibration of sound be communicated through the ether
    • After this transformation has taken place, the ether "picks up" the energy (which originally was in the form of vibrations of sound), carries that energy to radio receiving stations, and these receiving sets "step" that energy back down to its original rate of vibration so it is recognized as sound

Chapter 9: Persistence

  • Persistence is an essential factor in the procedure of transmuting Desire into its monetary equivalent. The basis of persistence is the Power of Will
    • Will-power and desire, when properly combined, make an irresistible pair. Men who accumulate great fortunes are generally known as cold-blooded, and sometimes ruthless. Often they are misunderstood. What they have is will-power, which they mix with persistence, and place back of their desires to insure the attainment of their objectives
  • The majority of people are ready to throw their aims and purposes overboard, and give up at the first sign of opposition or misfortune. A few carry on Despite all opposition, until they attain their goal
  • Poverty is attracted to the one whose mind is favorable to it, as money is attracted to him whose mind has been deliberately prepared to attract it, and through the same laws
    • Poverty consciousness will voluntarily seize the mind which is not occupied with the money consciousness
  • Those who can "take it" are bountifully rewarded for their Persistence. They receive, as their compensation, whatever goal they are pursuing. That is not all! They receive something infinitely more important than material compensation- the knowledge that "Every failure brings with it the seed of an equivalent advantage."
  • Persistence is a state of mind, therefore it can be cultivated. Like all states of mind, persistence is based upon definite causes, among them these:
    1. Definiteness of Purpose. Knowing what one wants is the first and, perhaps, the most important step towards the development of persistence. A strong motive forces one to surmount many difficulties
    2. Desire. It is comparatively easy to acquire and to maintain persistence in pursuing the object of intense desire
    3. Self-Reliance. Belief in one's ability to carry out a plan encourages one to follow the plan through with persistence. (Self-reliance can be developed through the principle described in the chapter on auto-suggestion)
    4. Definiteness of Plans. Organized plans, even though they may be weak and entirely impractical, encourage persistence
    5. Accurate Knowledge. Knowing that one's plans are sound, based upon experience or observation, encourages persistence; "guessing" instead of "knowing" destroys persistence
    6. Cooperation. Sympathy, understanding, and harmonious cooperation with others tend to develop persistence
    7. Will-Power. The habit of concentrating one's thoughts upon the building of plans for the attainment of a definite purpose, leads to persistence
    8. Habit. Persistence is the direct result of habit. The mind absorbs and becomes a part of the daily experiences upon which it feeds. Fear, the worst of all enemies, can be effectively cured by forced repetition of acts of courage. Everyone who has seen active services in war knows this
  • Symptoms of lack of persistence
    1. Failure to recognize and to clearly define exactly what one wants
    2. Procrastination, with or without cause. (Usually backed up with a formidable array of alibis and excuses)
    3. Lack of interest in acquiring specialized knowledge
    4. Indecision, the habit of "passing the buck" on all occasions, instead of facing issues squarely. (Also backed by alibis)
    5. The habit of relying upon alibis instead of creating definite plans for the solution of problems
    6. Self-satisfaction. There is but little remedy for this affliction, and no hope for those who suffer from it
    7. Indifference, usually reflected in one's readiness to compromise on all occasions, rather than meet opposition and fight it
    8. The habit of blaming others for one's mistakes, and accepting unfavorable circumstances as being unavoidable
    9. Weakness of Desire, due to neglect in the choice of Motives that impel action
    10. Willingness, even eagerness, to quit at the first sign of defeat. (Based upon one or more of the 6 basic fears)
    11. Lack of Organized Plans, placed in writing where they may be analyzed
    12. The habit of neglecting to move on ideas, or to grasp opportunity when it presents itself
    13. Wishing instead of Willing
    14. The habit of compromising with Poverty instead of aiming at riches. General absence of ambition to be, to do, and to own
    15. Searching for all the shortcuts to riches, trying to Get without Giving a fair equivalent, usually reflected in the habit of gambling, endeavoring to drive "sharp" bargains
    16. Fear of Criticism, failure to create plans and to put them into action, because of what other people will think, do, or say, this enemy belongs at the head of the list, because it generally exists in one's subconscious mind, where its presence is not recognized
  • How to develop persistence
    1. A Definiteness of Purpose backed by Burning Desire for its fulfillment
    2. A Definite Plan, expressed in Continuous Action
    3. A Mind Closed tightly against all negative and discouraging influences, including negative suggestions of relatives, friends, and acquaintances
    4. A Friendly Alliance with one or more persons who will encourage one to follow through with both Plan and Purpose

Chapter 10: Power of the Master Mind

  • The "Master Mind" may be defined as "Coordination of knowledge and effort, in a spirit of harmony between two or more people, for the attainment of a definite purpose."
    • Connecting with others and coordinating with them in the spirit of mutual benefit and value, based on what value is to each other
    • The psychic phase of the Master Mind principle is much more abstract, much more difficult to comprehend, because it has reference to the spiritual forces with which the human race, as a whole, is not well acquainted. I may catch a significant suggestion from this statement: "No two minds ever come together without, thereby, creating a third, invisible, intangible force which may be likened to a third mind."

Chapter 7: Organized Planning

  • If the first plan which I adopt does not work successfully, replace it with a new plan, if this new plan fails to work, replace it, in turn with still another, and so on, until I find a plan which Does Work. Right here is the point at which the majority of men meet with failure, because of their lack of Persistence in creating new plans to take the place of those which fail
    • I need persistence with organized planning. The actions that I take may not necessarily produce the results that I want, but I will gain information, insights, and objective data which I can use to go back to my plan and repeat until I begin getting success
  • Temporary defeat should mean only one thing, the certain knowledge that there is something wrong with my plan. Millions of men go through life in misery and poverty, because they lack a sound plan through which to accumulate a fortune
  • Broadly speaking, there are two types of people in the world. One type is known as Leaders, and the other as Followers. Decide at the outset whether I intend to become a leader in my chosen calling, or remain a follower. The difference in compensation is vast. The follower cannot reasonably expect the compensation to which a leader is entitled, although many followers make the mistake of expecting such pay
  • It is no disgrace to be a follower. On the other hand, it is no credit to remain a follower. Most great leaders began in the capacity of followers. They became great leaders because they were Intelligent Followers. With few exceptions, the man who cannot follow a leader intelligently, cannot become an efficient leader. The man who can follow a leader most efficiently, is usually the man who develops into leadership most rapidly. An intelligent follower has many advantages, among them the Opportunity to Acquire Knowledge From His Leader
    • If you want to become a good teacher, become a good student. If you want to become a good student, become a good teacher
  • The following are important factors of leadership:
    1. Unwavering Courage based on knowledge of self, and of one's occupation. No follower wishes to be dominated by a leader who lacks self-confidence and courage. No intelligent follower will be dominated by such a leader very long
    2. Self-Control. The man who cannot control himself, can never control others. Self-control sets mighty example for one's followers, which the most intelligent will emulate
    3. A Keen Sense of Justice. Without a sense of fairness and justice, no leader can command and retain the respect of his followers
    4. Definiteness of Decision. The man who wavers in his decision, shows that he is not sure himself. He cannot lead others successfully
    5. Definiteness of Plans. The successful leader must plan his work, and work his plan. A leader who moves by guesswork, without practical, definite planning is comparable to a ship without a rudder. Sooner or later he will land on the rocks
    6. The Habit of Doing More Than Paid For. One of the penalties of leadership is the necessity of willingness, upon the part of the leader, to do more than he requires of his followers
    7. A Pleasing Personality. No slovenly, careless person can become a successful leader. Leadership calls for respect. Followers will not respect a leader who does not grade high on all of the factors of a Pleasing Personality
    8. Sympathy and Understanding. The successful leader must be in sympathy with his followers. Moreover, he must understand them and their problems
    9. Mastery of Detail. Successful leadership calls for mastery of details of the leader's position
    10. Willingness to Assume Full Responsibility. The successful leader must be willing to assume responsibility for the mistakes and the shortcomings of his followers. If he tries to shift this responsibility, he will not remain the leader. If one of his followers makes a mistake, and shows himself incompetent, the leader must consider that it is he who failed
    11. Cooperation. The successful leader must understand, and apply the principle of cooperative effort and be able to induce his followers to do the same. Leadership calls for Power, and power calls for Cooperation
  • How to get the exact position I desire:
    1. Decide Exactly what kind of job I want. If the job doesn't already exist, perhaps I can create it
    2. Choose the company, or individual for whom I wish to work
    3. Study my prospective employer, as to policies, personnel, and chances of advancement
    4. By analysis of myself, my talents and capabilities, figure What I Can Offer, and plan ways and means of giving advantages, services, developments, ideas that I believe I can successfully deliver
    5. Forget about "a job." Forget whether or not there is an opening. Forget the usual routine of "have you got a job for me?" Concentrate on what I can give
    6. Once I have my plan in mind, arrange with an experienced writer to put it on paper in neat form, and in full detail
    7. Present it to the proper person with authority and he will do the rest. Every company is looking for men who can give something of value, whether it be ideas, services, or "connections."
  • Remember the "QQS" formula, but do more - Apply It As A Habit!
    1. Quality of service shall be construed to mean the performance of every detail, in connection with my position, in the most efficient manner possible, with the object of greater efficiency always in mind
    2. Quantity of service shall be understood to mean the Habit of rendering all the services of which I am capable, at all times, with the purpose of increasing the amount of service rendered as greater skill is developed through practice and experience. Emphasis is again placed on the word Habit
    3. Spirit of service shall be construed to mean the Habit of agreeable, harmonious conduct which will induce cooperation from associates and fellow employees
  • Millions of men and women throughout the nation are still engaged in this popular pastime of trying to Get without Giving
    • I give value first if I want to really produce the results of monetary wealth There is still but one dependable method of accumulating, and legally holding riches, and that is by rendering useful services

Chapter 8: Decision

  • Analysis of several hundred people who had accumulated fortunes well beyond the million dollar mark, disclosed the fact that every one of them had the habit of Reaching Decisions Promptly, and of changing these decisions Slowly, if, and when they were changed. People who fail to accumulate money, without exception, have the habit of reaching decision, If At All, very slowly, and of changing these decisions quickly and often
    • Speed of implementation is acting upon an idea as soon as it is received
  • Procrastination, the opposite of Decision, is a common enemy which practically every man must conquer
    • Procrastination lowers my self-esteem, it lowers my self-confidence, it wastes time, and it does not demonstrate faith and a burning desire
  • The majority of people who fail to accumulate money sufficient for their needs, are, generally, easily influenced by the "opinions" of others. They permit the newspapers and the "gossiping" neighbors to do their "thinking" for them
  • Keep my own counsel, when I begin to put into practice the principles described here, by reaching my own decisions and following them. Take no one into my confidence, Except the members of my "Master Mind" group, and be very sure in my selection of this group, that I choose Only those who will be in Complete Sympathy And Harmony With My Purpose
  • It is characteristic of people who have but a smattering or a veneer of knowledge to try to give the impression that they have much knowledge. Such people generally do Too Much talking, and Too Little listening. Keep my eyes and ears wide open - and my mouth Closed, if I wish to acquire the habit of prompt Decision
  • The value of decisions depends upon the courage required to render them. The great decisions, which served as the foundation of civilization, were reached by assuming great risks, which often meant the possibility of death
  • Those who reach Decisions promptly and definitely, now what they want, and generally get it. The leaders in every walk of life Decide quickly, and firmly. That is the major reason why they are leaders. The world has the habit of making room for the man whose words and actions show that he knows where he is going
  • Indecision is a habit which usually begins in youth. The habit takes on permanency as the youth goes through graded school, high school, and even through college, without Definiteness of Purpose

Chapter 5: Specialized Knowledge

  • There are two kinds of knowledge. One is general, the other is specialized. General knowledge, no matter how great in quantity or variety it may be, is of but little use in the accumulation of money. The faculties of the great universities possess, in the aggregate, practically every form of general knowledge known to civilization. Most of the professors have but little or no money. They specialize on teaching knowledge, but they do not specialize on the organization, or the use of knowledge
    • School and University is important for learning how to learn, learning how to do projects, and learning a lot of valuable information that can help me, but regardless of my profession, I adopt that lifelong learning is the way to go. This means that technology and skills are evolving so fast that I have to constantly be learning and getting better at understanding and taking action on the information specific to the foundation that I learned on school
  • Knowledge will not attract money, unless it is organized, and intelligently directed, through practical Plans of Action, to the Definite End of accumulation of money
    • Knowledge alone won't bring in money. I learn how to communicate my value, I help others see how what I have to offer is valuable to them, I learn how to sell myself and sell the ideas, how to manage myself and others, how to be more productive and organized, etc. These compliment the specialized knowledge and a plan of action which result in the accumulation of money
  • Before I can be sure of my ability to transmute Desire into its monetary equivalent, I will require Specialized Knowledge of the service, merchandise, or profession which I intend to offer in return for fortune
    • This can be in experience
    • 80% action, 20% learning
  • The accumulation of great fortunes calls for Power, and power is acquired through highly organized and intelligently directed specialized knowledge, but that knowledge does not, necessarily, have to be in the possession of the man who accumulates the fortune
    • I can surround myself with people with specialized knowledge. This is why leadership skills are so important; my ability to connect with people allows me to focus on the general concepts and end goal while having workers do the technical aspects of my projects
  • The person who stops studying merely because he has finished school is forever hopelessly doomed to mediocrity, no matter what may be his calling. The way of success is the way of continuous pursuit of knowledge

Chapter 6: Imagination

  • The imagination is literally the workshop wherein fashioned all plans created by me. The impulse, the Desire, is given shape, form, and Action through the aid of the imaginative faculty of the mind
  • My Only Limitation, within reason, Lies In My Development And Use Of My Imagination. I have not yet reached the apex of development in the use of my imagination faculty. I have merely discovered that I have an imagination, and, so far, I have commenced to use it in very elementary ways
  • 2 forms of Imagination:
    • Synthetic Imagination: Through this faculty, I may arrange old concepts, ideas, or plans into new combinations. This faculty creates nothing. It merely works with the material of experience, education, and observation with which it is fed. It is the faculty used most by the inventor, with the exception of the who draws upon the creative imagination, when I cannot solve my problem through synthetic imagination
    • Creative imagination: Through the faculty of creative imagination, the finite mind of man has direct communication with Infinite Intelligence. It is the faculty through which "hunches" and "inspirations" are received. It is by this faculty that all basic, or new ideas are handed over to man
    • It is this faculty that thought vibrations from the minds of others are received. It is through this faculty that one individual may "tune in," or communicate with the subconscious minds of other men
    • The creative imagination works automatically. This faculty functions Only when the conscious mind is vibrating at an exceedingly rapid rate, as for example, when the conscious mind is stimulated thought he emotion of a strong desire
  • If I am one of those who believe that hard work and honestly, alone, will bring riches, perish the thought! It is not true! Riches, when they come in huge quantities, are never the result of Hard work! Riches come, if they come at all, in response to definite demands, based upon the application of definite principles, and not by chance or luck
    • Generally speaking, an idea is an impulse of thought that impels action, by an appeal to the imagination. All master salesmen know that ideas can be sold where merchandise cannot. Ordinary salesmen do not know this- that is why they are ordinary Perceived value: Commanding a higher fee resulting in a rich organization, people, and companies. Creating something that was not there before that we now see as valuable

Chapter 3: Faith

  • Faith is the head chemist of the mind. When Faith is blended with the vibration of thought, the subconscious mind instantly picks up the vibration, translates it into its spiritual equivalent, and transmits it to Infinite Intelligence, as in the case of prayer
    • Thoughts that I have in my subconscious mind programs my subconscious mind. My subconscious mind has a paradigm pointing me towards failure or success. It determines the actions that I take and the behaviors that I have. Resistance to success may come from my subconscious minds, in that case a reprogram is necessary. When my paradigm is programmed towards a place of abundance, removing fears, and purposefully, worthwhile goals to create value for others, my subconscious mind will go into a certain frequency that resonates with the infinite intelligence where ideas, inspirations, and hunches come from
  • Faith is a state of mind which may be induced, or created, by affirmations or repeated instructions to the subconscious mind, through the principles of auto-suggestion
  • In connection to this, consider again the statement, All Thoughts Which Have Been Emotionalized, (given feeling) And Mixed With Faith, begin immediately to translate themselves into their physical equivalent or counterpart
  • My Belief, or Faith, is the element which determines the action of my subconscious mind
  • The subconscious mind will transmute into its physical equivalent, by the most direct and practical media available, any order which is given to it in a state of Belief, or Faith that the order will be carried out
  • A mind dominated by positive emotions, becomes a favorable abode for the state of mind known as faith. A mind so dominated may, at will, give the subconscious mind instructions, which it will accept and act upon immediately
  • The foregoing sentence is worth reading a second time, and a third, and a fourth. It is worth reading aloud!
    • Faith is the starting point of all accumulation of riches!
    • Faith is the basis of all "miracles," and all mysteries which cannot be analyzed by the rules of science!
    • Faith is the only known antidote for Failure
    • Faith is the element, the "chemical" which, when mixed with prayer, gives one direct communication with Infinite Intelligence
    • Faith is the element which transforms the ordinary vibration of thought, created by the finite mind of man, into spiritual equivalent
    • Faith is the only agency through which the cosmic force of Infinite Intelligence can be harnessed and used by man
  • Every man is what he is, because of the Dominating Thoughts which he permits to occupy his mind. Thoughts which I deliberately place in my own mind, and encourage with sympathy, and with which I mix any one or more of the emotions, constitute the motivating forces, which direct and control my ever movement, act, and deed!
  • Self confidence formula (affirmations):
    1. I know that I have the ability to achieve the object of my Definite Purpose in life, therefore, I demand of my self persistent, continuous action towards its attainment, and I here and now promise to render such action
    2. I realize the dominating thoughts of my mind will eventually reproduce themselves in outward, physical action, and gradually transform themselves into physical reality, therefore, I will concentrate my thoughts for thirty minutes daily, upon the task of thinking of the person I intend to become, thereby creating in my mind a clear mental picture of that person
    3. I know through the principle of auto-suggestion, any desire that I persistently hold in my mind will eventually seek expression through some practical mean of attaining the object back of it, therefore, I will devote ten minutes daily to demanding of myself the development of Self-Confidence
    4. I have clearly written down a description of my Definite Chief Aim in life, and I will never stop trying, until I shall have developed sufficient self-confidence for its attainment
    5. I fully realize that no wealth or position can long endure, unless built upon truth and justice, therefore, I will engage in no transaction which does not benefit all whom it affects. I will succeed by attracting to myself the forces I wish to use, and the cooperation of other people. I will induce others to serve me, because of my willingness to serve others. I will eliminate hatred, envy, jealousy, selfishness, and cynicism, by developing love for all humanity, because I know that a negative attitude toward others can never bring me success. I will cause others to believe in me, because I will believe in them, and in myself
  • I will sign my name to this formula, commit it to memory, and repeat it aloud once a day, with full Faith that it will gradually influence my Thoughts and Actions so that I will become a self-reliant, and successful person
  • The subconscious mind, (the chemical laboratory in which all thought impulses are combined, and made ready for translation into physical reality), makes no distinction between constructive and destructive thought impulses. It works with the material I feed it, through my thought impulses. The subconscious mind will translate into reality a thought driven by Fear just as readily as it will translate into reality a thought driven by Courage, or Faith
  • If I fill my mind with Fear, doubt, and unbelief in my ability to connect with, and use the forces of Infinite Intelligence, the law of auto-suggestion will take this spirit of unbelief and use it as a pattern by which my subconscious mind will translate it into its physical equivalent
  • It is a known fact that the emotion of Love is closely akin to the state of mind known as Faith, and this for the reason that Love comes very near to translating one's thought impulses into their spiritual equivalent
  • Riches begin in the form of Thought!
    • The amount is limited only by the person in whose mind the Thought is put into motion. Faith removes limitations! Remember this when I am ready to bargain with Life for whatever it is that I ask as my price for having passed this way

Chapter 4: Auto-Suggestion

  • Auto-Suggestion is a term which applies to all suggestions and all self-administered stimuli which reach one's mind through the five senses. Stated in another way, auto-suggestion is self-suggestion. It is the agency of communication between that part of the mind where conscious thought takes place, and that which serves as the seat of action for the subconscious mind
  • Nature has so built man that he has Absolute Control over the material which reaches his subconscious mind, through his five senses, although this is not meant to be construed as a statement what man always exercises this control. In the great majority of instances, he does not exercise it, which explains why so many people go through life in poverty
    • Time to recognize what is programming me and make a decision that I am going to surround myself with information, people, circumstances, etc., that is going to reprogram my subconscious mind to that of success
    • I know what I want to create, it is a definite plan and a definite purpose to get there, then I create a plan, and now I recognize the skills, specialized knowledge, and information that I need to consume that will reprogram my subconscious mind so I move in that direction and take action in that direction as fast a possible
  • Recall what has been said about the subconscious mind resembling a fertile garden spot, in which weeds will grow in abundance, if the seeds of more desirable crops are not sown therein. Auto-Suggestion is the agency of control through which I may voluntarily feed my subconscious mind on thoughts of a creative nature, or, by neglect, permit thoughts of a destructive nature to find their way into my rich garden o f the mind
  • I do not become discouraged if I cannot control and direct my emotions the first time I try to do so. I remember there is no such possibility as Something for Nothing. Ability to reach, and influence my subconscious mind has its price, and I Must Pay That Price
    • I cannot cheat, even if I desire to do so. The price of ability to influence my subconscious mind is everlasting Persistence in applying the principles described here. I cannot develop the desired ability for a lower price. I, and I Alone, must decide whether or not the reward for which I am striving (the "money consciousness"), is worth the price I must pay for it in effort
  • My ability to use the principle of Auto-Suggestion will depend, very largely, upon my capacity to Concentrate upon a given Desire until that desire becomes a Burning Obsession
  • Here is the most significant fact- the subconscious mind takes any orders given it in a spirit of absolute Faith, and acts upon those orders, although the orders often have to be presented over and over again, through repetition, before they are interpreted by the subconscious mind
  • I do not wait for a definite plan, through which I intend to exchange services or merchandise in return for the money I am visualizing, but I begin at once to see myself in possession of the money, Demanding and Expecting meanwhile, that my subconscious mind will hand over the plan, or plans I need. I be on the alert for these plans, and when they appear, I put them into Action Immediately
  • When visualizing the money I intend to accumulate, (with closed eyes), I see myself rendering the service, or delivering the merchandise I intend to give in return for this money. This is important!
  • If I choose to follow some of the instructions, but neglect, or refuse to follow others- I will fail! To get satisfactory results, I must follow All instructions in a spirit of Faith.
    • The instructions given in connection with the six steps in the second chapter will now be summarized, and blended with the principles covered by this chapter, as follows:
      1. Go into some quiet spot (preferably in bed at night) where I will not be disturbed or interrupted close my eyes, and repeat aloud, (so I may hear my own words) the written statement of the amount of money I intend to accumulate, the time limit for its accumulation, and a description of the service or merchandise I intend to give in return for the money. As I carry out these instructions, See Myself Already In Possession Of The Money
      2. Repeat this program night and morning until I can see, (in my imagination) the money I intend to accumulate
      3. Place a written copy of my statement where I can see it night and morning, and read it just before retiring, and upon arising until it has been memorized
    • These instructions may, at first, seem abstract. Do not let them disturb me. Follow the instructions, no matter how abstract or impractical they may, at first, appear to be. The time will soon come, if I do as I have been instructed, in spirit as well as in act, when a whole new universe of power will unfold to me
  • Skepticism, in connection with All new ideas, is characteristic of all human beings. But if I follow the instructions outlined, my skepticism will soon be replaced by belief, and this, in turn, will soon become crystallized into Absolute Faith. Then, I will have arrived at the point where I may truly say, "I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul!"

[19] Think and Grow Rich

Napoleon Hill

https://youtu.be/nR2SuK_kglQ

The goal here is to place myself in success consciousness as much as possible throughout my days so that I can see more opportunities, so I can execute upon more opportunities, so I can do it with greater joy and passion, to create the results that I want

Success comes to those who are success conscious. Failure comes to those who indifferently allow themselves to become failure conscious

  • The object of this book is to help all who seek it, to learn the art of changing their minds from failure consciousness to success consciousness

This book introduces me to a certain state of mind, a certain vibration as Napoleon Hill puts it. The certain vibration is success consciousness: A certain level of consciousness that allows me to see opportunities that I might not have otherwise seen before

Chapter 1: Introduction

  • Truly, "thoughts are things," and powerful things at that, when they are mixed with definiteness of purpose, persistence, and a burning desire for their translation into riches, or other material things
    • I need to evaluate how I think. Think in terms of success consciousness, wealth consciousness, or whatever consciousness way of thinking is required to achieve the outcome of what I want
  • I have learned, from years of experience with men, that when a man really desires a thing so deeply that he is willing to stake his entire future on a single turn of the wheel in order to get it, he is sure to win
  • One of the most common causes of failure is the habit of quitting when one is overtaken by temporary defeat. Every person is guilty of this mistake at one time or another
    • Life is a test. A test of growth, of character. It's all a personal development workshop to equip myself with the motivation, courage, persistence, and knowledge to be able to turn obstacles into opportunities
  • Before success comes in any man's life, he is sure to meet with much temporary defeat, and, perhaps, some failure. When defeat overtakes a man, the easiest and most logical thing to do is to quit. That is exactly what the majority of men do. More than five hundred of the most successful men this country has ever known, told the author their greatest success came just one step beyond the point at which defeat had overtaken them. Failure is a trickster with a keen sense of irony and cunning. It takes great delight in tripping one when success is almost within reach
    • How I think and how I see reality to work determines the actions I take. The actions I take determines whether I see success or not
  • Somewhere in this book I will find an idea that will quicken my receptive powers, and place at my command, for my own benefit, the same irresistible power. The awareness of this power may come to me in the first chapter, or it may flash into my mind in some subsequent chapter. It may come in the form of a single idea. Or, it may come in the nature of a plan, or a purpose. Again, it may cause me to go back into my past experiences of failure or defeat, and bring to the surface some lessons by which I can regain all that i lost through defeat
  • The answer called for a description of thirteen principles, but remember, as I read, the answer I may be seeking, to the questions which have caused me to ponder over the strangeness of life, may be found in my own mind, through some idea, plan, or purpose which may spring into my mind as I read
    • In order to receive the downloads that I may receive during this experience (book/audio/blog), I must maintain this high vibrational mindset after I have closed my laptop
  • Before I go any further in my approach to the description of these principles: When riches begin to come they come so quickly, in such great abundance, that one wonders where they have been hiding during all those lean years. This is an astonishing statement, and all the more so, when I take into consideration the popular belief, that riches come only to those who work hard and long
    • I understand that I can do things where I'm inspired, uplifted, energized, and motivated to evoke insights and perspectives to be able to see opportunities that I wouldn't have seen before because I'm in a more empowered state. When I'm in this space, I am more likely to execute on opportunities with confidence, speed, and decision (elements of success).
    • I will always get paid in return based on the value I create for others based on what value means to them
  • When I begin to think and grow rich, I will observe that riches begin with a state of mind, with definiteness of purpose, with little or no hard work. I, and every other person, ought to be interested in knowing how to acquire that state of mind which will attract riches
    • This entire journey of wealth creation, or creating success in my life, doesn’t have to be one that is stressful and full of hardship. I have seen this book before, but until I had the level of success consciousness, I didn't have the intuitive nudge to pick up the book and read it (or watch this video). This allows for more layers of understanding to be opened up, and more success begins to follow
  • The ether in which this little earth floats, in which I move and have my being, is a form of energy moving at an inconceivably high rate of vibration, and that the ether is filled with a form of universal power which adapts itself to the nature of the thoughts I hold in my mind; and influences me, in natural ways, to transmute my thoughts into their physical equivalent. My brain becomes magnetized with the dominating thoughts which I hold in my mind, and, by means with which no man is familiar, these "magnets" attract to us the forces, the people, the circumstances of life which harmonize with the nature of my dominating thoughts
    • Before I can accumulate riches in great abundance, I must magnetize my mind with intense desire for riches, that I must become "money conscious until the desire for money drives me to create definite plans for acquiring it."

Chapter 2: Desire

  • Every person who wins in any undertaking must be willing to burn his ships and cut all sources of retreat. Only by so doing can one be sure of maintaining that state of mind known as a Burning Desire to Win, essential to success
  • Every human being who reaches the age of understanding of the purpose of money, wishes for it. Wishing will not bring riches. But desiring riches with a state of mind that becomes an obsession, then planning definite ways and means to acquire riches, and backing those plans with persistence which does not recognize failure, will bring riches
  • The method by which desire for riches can be transmuted into its financial equivalent, consists of six definite, practical steps:
    1. Fix in my mind the exact amount of money I desire. It is not sufficient merely to say "I want plenty of money." Be definite as to the amount
    2. Determine exactly what I intend to give in return for the money I desire
    3. Establish a definite date where I intend to possess the money I desire
    4. Create a definite plan for carrying out my desire, and begin at once, whether I am ready or not, to put this plan into action
    5. Write out a clear, concise statement of the amount of money I intend to acquire, name the time limit for its acquisition, state what I intend to give in return for the money, and describe clearly the plan through which I intend to accumulate it
    6. Read my written statement aloud, twice daily, once just before retiring at night, and once after arising in the morning. As I read - See and Feel and Believe in myself already in possession of the money
  • It is important that I follow the instructions described in these six steps. It is especially important that I observe, and follow the instructions in the last part. I may complain that it is impossible for me to "see myself in possession of money" before I actually have it. Here is where a Burning Desire will come to my aid. If I truly Desire money so keenly that my desire is an obsession, I will have no difficulty in convincing myself that I will acquire it. The object is to want money, and to become so determined to have it that I Convince myself I will have it
    • To the uninitiated, who has not been schooled in the working principles of the human mind, these instructions may appear impractical. It may be helpful, to all who fail to recognize the soundness of the six steps, to know that the information they convey, was received from Andrew Carnegie, who began as an ordinary laborer in the steel mills, but managed, despite his humble beginnings, to make these principles yield him a fortune of considerably more than one hundred million dollars.
  • It may be of further help to know that the six steps here recommended were carefully scrutinized by the late Thomas A. Edison, who placed his stamp of approval upon them as being, not only the steps essential for the accumulation of money, but necessary for the attainment of nay definite goal
  • Only those who become "money conscious" ever accumulate great riches. "Money consciousness" means that the mind has become so thoroughly saturated with the Desire for money, that one can see one's self already in possession of it
  • I may as well know, right here, that I can never have riches in great quantities, Unless I can work myself into a white heat of Desire for money, and actually Believe I will possess it
  • In planning to acquire my share of the riches, let no one influence me to scorn the dreamer. To win the big stakes in this changed world, I must catch the spirit of the great pioneers of the past, whose dreams have given to civilization all that it has of value, the spirit which serves as the life-blood of our own country - my opportunity to develop and market my talents
  • Put my dream across, and never mind what "they" say if I meet with temporary defeat, for "they," perhaps, do not know that every failure brings with it the seed of an equivalent success
  • Remember, too, that all who succeed in life get off to a bad start, and pass through many heartbreaking struggles before they "arrive." The turning point in the lives of those who succeed, usually comes at the moment of some crisis, through which they are introduced to their "other selves."
  • There is a difference between Wishing for a thing and being Ready to receiver it. No one is ready for a thing, until he believes he can acquire it. The state of mind must be Belief, not mere hope or wish. Open-mindedness is essential for belief. Closed minds do not inspire faith, courage, and belief
  • Strange and imponderable is the power of the human mind! I do not understand the method by which it uses every circumstance, every individual, every physical thing within its reach, as a means of transmuting Desire into its physical counterpart. Perhaps science will uncover this secret
  • Through some strange and powerful principle of "mental chemistry" which she has never divulged, Nature wraps up in the impulse of Strong Desire "that something" which recognizes no such word as impossible, and accepts no such reality as failure
  • Before passing to the next chapter, kindle anew in my mind the fire of hope, faith, courage, and tolerance. If I have these states of mind, and a working knowledge of the principles described, all else that I need will come to me, when I am Ready for it

[18] The Secret Door to Success

Florence Scovel Shinn

https://youtu.be/7KT_11dI9zI

The Road to Success

  • The road to success is a straight and narrow path; it is a road of loving absorption and undivided attention. But where is our attention being assigned based on our assumptions within?
    • The man who achieves success has the fixed idea of success. If it is founded on a rock of truth and rightness it will stand
    • If not, it is built upon sand and washed into the sea, returning to its native nothingness
    • Every day examine my consciousness and see just what I am preparing for
    • Use what I have with wisdom and it opens the way for more to come to me
  • A well-known man, who has become a great power in the financial world, said to a friend, "I always follow intuition and I am luck incarnate."
    • Inspiration (which is divine guidance) is the most important thing in life
    • People come to Truth meetings for inspiration. I find the right word will start divine activity operating in their affairs
  • Faith is expectancy, "According to your faith, be it unto you."
    • I might say, according to my expectancies be it done unto you; so, what am I expecting?
    • I hear people say: "We expect the worst to happen," or "The worst is yet to come." They are deliberately inviting the worst to come
    • I hear others say: "I expect a change for the better." They are inviting better conditions into their lives

Change my expectancies and I change my conditions

Faith is loyalty to the unseen reality

The superconscious is the realm of inspiration, revelation, illumination, and intuition

  • The Imagination is Man's Workshop, the Scissors of the Mind, where he is constantly cutting out the events of his life!
  • I juggle with the intellect. The intellect would say, "Times are hard, no activity in real estate. Don't expect anything until the Fall of 2022."
    • With spiritual law there is only the now
    • Before I call I am answered, for "time and space are but a dream," and my blessing is there awaiting for me to release it by faith and the word. I have been given the gift of speech and mind. My goal is to keep the garden of the mind through the mind. I do this by selecting and fulfilling a desire which requires purification of mind
  • I can learn to control my thoughts in the same way, by gentle determination, not force
    • I take an affirmation and repeat it continually, while my thoughts are on the rampage
    • I cannot always control my thoughts, but I can control my words, and repetition impresses the subconscious, and I am the master of the situation
  • Hundreds of people choosing the wrong gifts because they were not listening to their intuitive leads
    • No matter what I am doing, ask for guidance. It saves time and energy and often a lifetime of misery
    • All suffering comes from the violation of intuition. Unless intuition builds the house, they labor in vain who build it
    • Get the habit of hunching, then I will always be on the magic path
    • "And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer, and while they are yet speaking, I will hear."
    • Working with spiritual law, I am bringing to pass that which already is. In the Universal Mind it is there as an idea, but is crystallized on the external, by a sincere desire

If I am convinced that I am a failure, I will be a failure, until I impress the subconscious with the conviction I am a success

  • This is done by making an affirmation which "clicks."
    • The reason it is necessary to make an affirmation is because repetition impresses the subconscious
    • Every day choose the right words, the right thoughts!

My success and happiness in life depend upon the watchman at the gate of my thoughts, sooner or later, crystallize on the external

[17] Dollars Want Me

Henry Harrison Brown

https://youtu.be/U6ocwY8k-KE

With a certain rearrangement of the mind, I realize that all actually wants me. This realization leads to inner-harmony or harmonious mental attitude

Harmony

  • The prevalent attitude is want for the Dollar, belief that Dollars are power. This must be outgrown and the attitude must be that All Power is in Man
  • Dollars are machines with power delegated to them by man
  • They are useless Without man. Dollars Want Me! Is to be the thought of the "Coming Man." A few so think now and have obtained mastery of Supply
    • Mastery over money is recognizing that I give it it's meaning. If the meaning is "I want" or "I so desperately need" then I give the power to the outer world element
    • When I realize the power is within, then I can assess where I am assigning the meaning and what kind of interpretation I have to the five sensory experience (money in this case)
  • If I choose to place power on anything in this external world, then I become subject to experiencing void, internal disharmony, and desperation surrounding whatever the element may be
  • There is neither health nor prosperity without harmony
    • Mind, body and estate must be cared for. In order that there may be health, happiness, and prosperity, there must be Harmony
    • This harmony is found in merely giving Self, the Soul, its way
    • Harmony is living in obedience to mental law. It is found in right thinking
  • One way to the soul is mastery of inner-speech, inner-conversation, imagination, and mind. This allows me to work with the mental law
    • The mental law states "all things added based on the state that I identify with"
    • In this case it's mental harmony with money

Mental Attitude

  • Law of supply
    • The law is simple and it is laid down by the greatest political economist as well as the greatest Mental Scientist the world has in its historic records. His name was Jesus. He gave the Law thus: "Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all things shall be added unto you."
    • Reassign the meaning "Kingdom of God?" to "Within me"
    • Live in accord with my sense of right; obey my own conscience
    • Then all things shall be mine. Things of whatever kind, of all kinds, are manifestations of the One Substance
    • Things are, like myself, manifestations of the One Creator. Dollars are things. Dollars are manifestations of the One Creator
  • Plain Directions
    • Live true to self
    • Live spiritually
    • Give the first place in my thought to the eternal, from which things come and then all things all come to me at need
    • "First?" Yes! Not things first, but that mental condition which controls things. So not Dollars first, but the mental harmony which attracts Dollars first

What is success?

  • Success lies in the mental. Attitude that arises from that sense of personal power which meets every condition without anxiety
    • It's an attitude, a state of mind. This feeling of anxiety surrounding money relates to mental disharmony
  • Change my attitude towards business. Do not seek it. See it mentally already mine and let it come. Attend myself to details as they come to the surface. Consider business a Principle that will run, as runs a mountain stream, when I remove my conscious will from it

Remove my conscious will from it

  • Allow the depths of the infinite realm within to express through subconscious creativity and flow within
  • Love-for-the-ideal leads to desire. Desire leads to action, action converts towards conditions into the actual ideal
    • When I dwell in and live in that state of mind, then I take the optimal action, the right action, that leads to the attainment and I maintain it
  • In this respect, I must follow the law of supply and demand. I must honestly feel that I will give the Dollar's worth for every Dollar that I desire
  • First, I must have something which the world needs and is willing to pay for
  • Secondly, I must, in all sincerity, dedicate every Dollar that collies to me to noble service
  • It is always the mental attitude that determines success. Let that attitude be: "Business wants me!"

Affirmations to facilitate

  • I am part of the One and, in the One, possess all. I possess all!
    • Affirm this and patiently wait for the manifestation. I have sown the thought-seed, now, like the rancher, wait for the sprouting and the harvest. It can never fail me when, like him, I trust
  • I affirm that there is but One Power, One Mind
  • All phenomena are but a manifestation of that One
    • The Self-Conscious manifestation of that Mind --Man--because he is Self-Conscious, has power to command obedience from all that is not self-conscious, to command all that is not himself. Money, being a part of all and also being a creation of Human Thought; is subject to Human will

Now as I continue to affirm this kind of way of looking at reality, in this case money or prosperity, I begin to experience more harmony within. I recognize that I was creating this unnecessary complexity, convolution, and meaning thus experiencing void, separation, desperation, frustration, and that's okay. I have learned this kind of meaning and I have the power to change it. As I change it, I start to notice, from the mental harmony, that how I relate "desire leads to action, as an automatic action", as in "I'm not afraid to ask for money" "I'm not afraid to put out my products or services" and if I experience rejection, I don't take it personally. I see it as optimization data. There is a supply and demand and I will meet that infinite demands that exists from the creative intelligence within. I recognize that I already have and I have infinite potentiality within to meet what the world needs and what they're willing to pay for. And, I know that how I carry myself is from that state of harmony and thus noble service.
